Good Friday to one and all and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! This is a fun time of year as it brings out the kid in all of us. Speaking of kids… they will be making their rounds through the neighborhoods later this evening and the weather looks spook-tacular.

But we should all be on the lookout for that famed escaped mental patient… MICHAEL MYERS!!!!!!!

What a classic movie that one is! As a matter of fact I am watching it as I write this blog entry. In addition to the trying to get the weather right… and I stress the trying part. I have been looking up the history of this famed horror pic. There is a Kentucky connection and it’s a big one. Director John Carpenter is from Bowling Green and many of the towns and streets in the movie are named after streets and towns near the BG. The theme song from the movie is one we all know and was originally performed by the Bowling Green Philharmonic. They are even credited at the end of the movie. The problem is there is no Bowling Green Philharmonic. Carpenter and a couple of his buddies had to come up with the theme song on their own because of a limited budget.

Anyway… I found it interesting and think it’s cool there is such a Kentucky connection to one of the greatest horror flics of all time!

As I mentioned earlier… the weather for this Halloween looks great. Highs will hit the mid and upper 60s under sunny skies. Trick or treaters should plan on temps in the low 60s to start and mid 50s to end. Not bad folks!

The weather through the weekend into early next week looks good. highs will continue to run in the 60s with a few clouds over the weekend. Can we get a shower from a weak front to our north? I guess anything is possible… but the chances are as slim as you can get.

Election Day weather continues to look good with temps warming close to 70 and that will carry us into Wednedsay as well. It is during this time we will see a trough digging into the plains. At the same time… we should see some sort of hybrid system developing off the southeastern coast of the US. The interaction between these two features could make for some interesting weather across the eastern half of the country by next weekend.

The forecast models continue to take on a wetter look for later Thursday into Friday and a MUCH colder look by next weekend around here. Check out the European…

Friday

 Saturday

You can see the European model actually shows the trough picking up whatever is setting out in the Atlantic and turning it into another big snowstorm for the northeast. That would also imply we get another big shot of cold air that can lead to some flakes around here again.

The Canadian model agrees with the big trough idea but get’s there in a different way for next Saturday…

The GFS is showing something similar but is having issues with the system along the east coast. This is very typical of the model in this type of setup. It still shows the big cold air dump into the region next weekend… just without the east coast system which throws off the rest of the run.

The blog started throwing out hints of an early start to winter a few weeks ago and I am now seeing many other outlets starting to say the same thing. I don’t think you are going to have trouble getting in the holiday spirit this year!!!

My winter forecast comes out in about 3 weeks or so!!

Have a great Friday and Happy Halloween! Take care.

PS… tick tock tick tock NWS Louisville.
