Good Tuesday everyone and thanks for joining us on the blog. This is a nice little taste of wintry weather for so early in the season. Many areas picked up a mix of rain, sleet and snow showers Monday and those will continue with us into this Tuesday… especially in the east.
I can say I am VERY proud of the forecast we laid out for you on the blog more than a week ago. I stuck to my guns on what I was seeing and it worked out for me… for a change!
Let’s hope it’s the start of a hot streak for the blog as we head into winter.
As I mentioned… snow showers will continue into today in parts of the state. Eastern Kentucky has the best shot at seeing the flakes continue and the higher elevations can pick up some light accumulations. Highs Today will struggle into the lower 40s with a gusty wind making it feel like it is in the 30s.
If you are looking to see if our southeastern Kentucky counties can get a small accumulation… I have you covered with some cams…

Harlan

While we are getting our first taste of wintry weather across the state… it is nothing like the folks in the northeast are getting right now. A major early season winter storm is dumping a ton of snow across interior New England. Check out the forecast snowfall amounts…
WOW! More than a foot of heavy wet snow falling on trees that still have some leaves on them will create havoc up there. Not to mention the winds that may gust over 40mph as well. Pretty incredible for this time of the year and is yet another signal to me that this upcoming winter means business! ![]()
Here is a sneak peek into the rest of the forecast… headline style.
1. Wednesday morning will be the coldest so far. Temps will hit the mid 20s in a lot of areas. Our growing season is long over now but Freeze Warnings and Advisories will be issued anyway.
2. Temps will head toward the low 50s in some areas Wednesday afternoon and make a run toward the low 60s Thursday.
3. Halloween looks good right for all the trick or treaters. Highs will be in the low to mid 60s meaning temps will be in the 50s during the evening for the kids making their rounds.
4. A cold front will move toward us this weekend and knock temps back down a bit. This is not going to be the front I had once thought.
5. Early next week into Election Day will be mild.
6. The snow pack in Canada is growing and should really take off over the next week or so. This will combine with the overall pattern to create some very cold air up there. This will be itching to come south and that looks to make a run at us during the second or third week of November.
7. Have I mentioned that I think winter is going to get off to a very early start this year? “Interesting” times ahead my friends. ![]()
Have a great Tuesday and enjoy any flakes you may see Today. Take care.

Thanks Chris. I’ve been telling all my work mates what this week would bring and everyone kinda “hum bugged” me. I guess now they know that our weather dude means buisness when he puts his forcast up.
Thanks Chris…reports of a fender-bender in Letcher County on 119 between Kona and Jenkins; not sure if it is weather-related. Notice on the map the snow is close to Philadelphia, where the rain has halted the World Series. Unsure if they will even resume the game tonight based on current forecasts.
Just like Patty, my husband told me I was crazy saying there would be snow flakes yesterday. He had to admit last night that he saw snow. The fireplace sure was nice last night.
Thanks everyone for the getwell thoughts,I feel a little better today..Check out these snowfall accum. for New York State…
