Good Monday everyone and welcome to the last few days of October! We are starting out this new work week with a little taste of late November weather. The big change rolled in overnight in the form of a cold front. Much colder air is in store for the region Today before the chance for the first flakes of the season roll in later Tonight and Tuedsay.
Highs Today will hit the low to mid 40s in many areas. Winds will be rather gusty as well but nothing like the 30mph + winds we had overnight. We had this highlighted several days ago.
A weak disturbance will roll in later tonight into Tuesday and will bring some rain and snow showers to much of the region.
GFS Tuesday Morning
The model continues to spit out the chance for a rooftop duster across the higher elevations of eastern Kentucky…
Highs Tuesday will generally be in the low 40s with a wind chill in the 30s. Brrrrrrrr! I will be updating the first flakes threat in greater detail coming up later this evening so make sure you check back. I will also update the Halloween weather that should be good for the trick or treaters. My chilly shot for the weekend is back on the table too. ![]()
Take care and have a good Monday.

I can’t believe there’s not one drop of rain in the ten day forecast, other than this small system.
thanks Chris! I’m lovin’ it! I am glad however that it’ warming up a bit for the ghost and goblins that’ll be out Friday evening. I’ll be scared!
Thanks Chris for the update…NWS Jackson has canceled the freeze watch that was going to be in effect tonight.
The wind kept me up last night. It had that cold sound to it with all the dry leaves blowing around. A friend in North Dakota reported gale force winds in her area yesterday. I’m glad that missed us.
Looking forward to seeing the first flake of the season. Everybody needs to remember that Lucy never sticks out her tongue to catch snowflakes until January. 🙂
(That’s from “A Charlie Brown Christmas”)
Time to start putting up the ole Christmas Decorations (Chris needs to put a picture of Clark Griswald on here.lol. with his imfamous Christmas decorations..) The talk of cold, and snow gets me cranking for Christmas…minus all the Christmas shopping..BLAH!!, long lines, hateful people,no merchandise..On the other hand lets just get through THanksgiving first!!..lol..
………………………..
Well I heard someone in West Virginia was reporting snow falling this morning. I just didnt catch where it was falling…oh well maybe our time is tonight..
I see Chris has started a facelift on the blog. I’m looking forward to all the upcoming updates and changes..later gang
so NWS puts out a freeze warning and we get down to 41 hmmm
Bottomed out around 35 at my house in Lawrenceburg. The wind kept things mixed up and prevented frost, etc.
clouds and it being 41 degrees kept it from frosting at my house but if all holds true will be a hard frost tomorrow
Good Morning Chris!
I just love this morning…the sun is shinning and its a chilly 41* down here on the border! We reached a 39* very early this morning.I am looking forward to tonight, just to see some flakes…snow flakes that is haha…have a great day to Chris & the bloggers!
Freeze warnings are a little late here in my valley local in Northern Morgan County. I had 28,29,27 and 29 degrees last week. The growing season is over, dead flowers cleaned out, lawn mower put away,(sigh..) there did summer go???
We just had about five minutes of heavy, wet snow here in downtown Lexington…..
Are you serious Feederband??!
My husband call me about 15 minutes ago from work he works in lexington he said it was snowing big time just did not last long he said
Did someone say CHRISTMAS, which is only 58 days away. The wife and I start putting up decorations November 1. Thanks for the update Chris, all this snow talk has me excited that maybe we can get a white CHRISTMAS this year!
I thought i was the only one who put christmas up right after halloween.
Any reports of sleet/snow yet other than Lexington?
Chris…will LMK officially record this as our first trace of snowfall of the season at LEX? I’m thinking no. But I know how you feel about it and I tend to agree. What will they do?
I thought i was the only one whp put up there christmas decorations right after halloween.
Sorry about posting twice.
CHRIS I’VE MISSED YOU!!! The temperature started dropping today and I thought about last fall/winter when I was a FAITHFUL reader of your blog. Just happened to be surfing today and found THIS weather blog. GOSH I’ve missed this. I wasn’t much of a poster when you were at KYT… but I sure did read a lot. I would always check the blog before leaving work and then check it again as soon as I got home. Anywhoo… glad I found it!
Thanks Chris for all your dedication. I dont post much but read faithfully everyday. I am so excited to start decorating for christmas. I am a nurse and have to work this weekend but come sunday night the tree is going up!!! Hopefully it will be cold night for it!!
We just had something happen in Richmond. I guess you’d call it sleet. It lasted for about 10 seconds.
Yes, Jason, I’m serious. Didn’t last long, but it sure made you take notice. From the looks of the radar, there may be more on the way.
It is snowing at a moderate clip in Wilmore at this very moment!
Came in from work around 4PM. We had a Sleet and Snow shower here on the south side of Lexington that lasted about 10 minutes. You could really hear the Ice pellets coming down on the car. The earliest snow flake I ever recall since the Halloween on 1993!
More Ice pellets and snow coming down hard at times here in LExington.LOVE IT-LOVE IT!
a little snow and sleet as well on uk campus as well this afternoon.
Here in northwest Lex, I too saw snow for about 5 min’s, maybe a little less. It happened a couple of different times.
