Happy Sunday folks and thanks for blogging with us. I am dropping by for a quick update on our early season flirt with winter that is coming over the next few days.

Things remain on target as far as what the blog has been saying for several days now. Our front will arrive later tonight and will have a VERY narrow band of some rain showers that can end as a few flurries in the east by Monday morning. Temps by that time will be near freezing.

Monday itself will see clouds begin to fill back in from the northwest as a weak system works southeastward in the cold flow. Highs will be running in the low to mid 40s. Those clouds can start to produce some precipitation by later Monday evening. Here is what the GFS shows for that time…

The green is rain while the pink shows snow. This will be scattered rain or snow showers or even just some sprinkles or flurries. The coverage of the precip will pick up by Tuesday morning as some moisture from Lake Michigan gets involved. Here is Tuesday morning…

I am becoming more and more confident that the state of Kentucky will see the first flakes of the season over the next 48 hours. That does not mean you will see them where you live… but the chances are increasing that we can get more and more folks involved by Tuesday morning. The GFS is even spitting out some light accumulations in the east…

Can eastern Kentucky get a rooftop duster out of this? Yep. Will they? Ask me Monday evening!

Highs Tuesday will see temps even colder than Monday with many areas struggling into the low 40s. Clearing skies for Wednesday morning will allow for temps to take a big time tumble into the mid 20s with some low 20s possible in the valleys.

I will update all this later this evening so make sure to check back. Take care and enjoy this awesome Sunday!
