Good Friday gang and thanks for stopping in to blog with us. It’s certainly good to see a lot of the “old timers” from the KYT blog showing up. It’s feeling like home again! Before we get into the weather… I do want to talk about the blog a little bit.

For the newcomers… you can only leave comments through www.kyweathercenter.com . I am still working out a bug that keeps people from posting on kentuckyweathercenter.com. They are linked to the exact same thing so no worries. I am also planning on upgrading the blog in the coming weeks to get ready for the busy winter season. I hope to add some more goodies to what you already see here… including video forecasts from yours truly. This will include the winter forecast too. I would also like to set it up where you can upload pics and even videos of the weather where you are. Moral of the story is we are going to take the blog to another level this winter so tell your friends and family!

Let’s get to the weather. I don’t have a whole lot of new things to add to what we have been talking about in recent days. The rain is moving across the state on this Friday with many areas picking up between a half and one inch by early Saturday. Here are some radars for you to track the rains into your hometown…

Showers will taper off from west to east Friday night with one or two lingering into the day Saturday. A mix of sun and clouds will be with us Saturday as temps hit the low to mid 50s for highs. Sunday will be a fairly nice day just ahead of our BIG cold air push. Highs will likely warm into the low 60s under partly sunny skies and increasing winds. The front will then slam through the area Sunday night. Winds will crank with gusts reaching 30mph or greater as temps drop some 30 degrees. This front is likely to have a narrow band of rain showers just ahead of it and those can easily end as some snow showers or flurries by Monday morning. Just for fun… take a look at the NAM snowfall chart for Sunday night and Monday morning…

That is your typical 1″-2″ late October snowfall in southern Ky and Tn! Haha… don’t believe it folks… it ain’t happening but it is cool to look at anyway! You will notice that the central Ky snow dome lives in even in fantasy land.

As we mentioned earlier this week… getting ANY flakes of snow in October takes the perfect setup. A few flurries or light snow showers is as much as I think we can get out of this early next week. You get the Monday morning chance then the chance later Monday night or Tuesday with some upslope flow kicking in.

We have all weekend to pinpoint the flake potential for early next week and that is indeed what we will be doing.

Until then… enjoy the rain… we REALLY need it!

Take care.
