Hello everyone and welcome to your Thursday. We are getting closer and closer to the weekend and some big time weather happenings across the state. Let us start you out with what is going on in the precious present.
Our Thursday is shaping up to be an awesome day! Highs will soar into the 60s on a southwesterly wind that will kick up during the afternoon. Some clouds will also increase during this time. We have been hyping a big rainmaker to kick off the weekend and that is still in the cards. This is the same storm that has prompted BLIZZARD WARNINGS for parts of Kansas and Nebraska!
Rain will roll into western Kentucky later tonight then quickly spread to the east Friday. Locally heavy rains will be with us Friday into Friday night when many areas could pick up an inch or so of much needed rains. Here is the latest GFS Rainfall forecast through Saturday afternoon…
Now that will get our streams flowing again! Gusty winds will accompany this low as it works through the Ohio Valley. Temps will be very chilly as well. Highs Friday will come early in the day before thermometers come crashing down into the 40s during the afternoon as the rains move in. Nothing like a cold rain for high school football!!
Showers will taper off from west to east Saturday as winds continue to crank up. Highs will struggle into the lower 50s in most areas.
Sunday will bring us a very interesting day as we await the arrival of what is basically an October version of an arctic front. It will be another windy day as temps recover from the 30s to start into the 50s and maybe a 60 by afternoon. Sunday evening… BOOM! The front arrives and temps take a dive and the winds will continue to be a big player. Goodbye leaves! Here is how this all plays out according to the European Model…

That is some incredible cold for this time of the year. The font that moves through Sunday night will have a few rain showers with it that can mix with a snowflake by morning. There isn’t a ton of moisture with it though. Monday will feature gusty winds with temps in the low 40s for highs.
A second impulse embedded in our northwesterly flow will arrive late Monday night and Tuesday and will have the chance to bring some rain and snow showers to the region. Take a look…

The blue is snow showers while the green shows the rains. That is still several days away but it is definitely something to watch out for. Highs Tuesday will have very tough time hitting the lower 40s. Winds will continue to be rather gusty as well. Can you say WIND CHILL?! 
Lows Monday and Tuedsay will be near 30 in most areas. It is Wednedsay and Thursday mornings that can see temps really tank with low to mid 20s a possibility if things go exactly right! Highs Wednedsay will stay in the 40s and we may finally hit the 50s again Thursday.
Like I said earlier… this is still several days away so we have some time to watch it all. But the possibility of an early season taste of winter is certainly with us!

Well its been forever since I posted so I thought I would just add that if that were to hold true as far as precip type then it brings back memories from when I moved here frome GA 2 years ago.. I remember it getting cold in October and yes there were flakes flying. I remember asking if it was normal to get snow in October around here and they told me not really.. I also remember it staying below freezing that winter for days and days and it took forever for the snow to melt all the way at my house… I just wonder if we are going to get some of that cold this winter…It was cold last winter but not like my first winter here.
I agree with Patty except instead of a good book, change that to a good college football game on tv. I fall asleep reading. Especially under a warm blanket. bring on the early winter,,,,,finally!!! come on rain
I had a fire in the fireplace last night!!! OH MAN that was nice. My toes were cold and my nose was cold and then all the sudden…..warm and toasty! Bring it on –
There’s a little less blue on that map than yesterday (or it’s farther to the right) — but that’s ok too – it’s getting me geared up!
Yet another Frosty morning here in the cumberland river basin of whitley co. around 8 am. it was 30*,clear skies and a huge frost. I noticed there is a wide range of morning lows ONCE again. ranging from low 30’s to high 40’s. Its good to see old bloggers posting again…WE DO MISS YOU GUYS..lol.. I noticed that the NWS has even got a chance of rain/snow in their forecast for MOn. and Mon. night for my area .IMPRESSIVE this far out…Way to go Jackson.. I for one am like Julie I am geared up and ready to go with winter FULL FORCE…bring on the snow and some MUCH NEEDED RAIN…

I had to remove that post in order to get this one on the top. I had started both at the same time but when I posted this one… it had it behind the other one on the blog list. I AM FURIOUS AS WELL !!! WKYT NEEDS CHRIS BACK !!!!……. There was ((NO)) mention of snow in the wkyt extended forecast… and the coldest overnight low was 42*..!!! come on !! Chris I still think you should shoot weather videos for this website. Talk about viewers!!!! Everyone that dont get wsaz in ky. is suffering major Chris Bailey weather syndrome!!! including myself. Well the 7 day forecast on the NOAA site it had a chance for rain/snow and I just about fainted that it was mentioned… In the Hazardous weather it evens says there is a chance for snow shower monday and monday night… WOW.. I know that things can change but was surprised to see the mention of it… Glad to be posting again… Life just gets busy with 4 kids and one is almost 8 months and crawling everywhere… kinds keeps things busy around here…. Can’t wait to see if the possibility of flakes flying really pans out… Oh and Tim you are just too funny on your comments….

Jackson NWS is on board with the snow flurries next week. It’s about to get NIPPY outside!! But GFS shows a moderation to normal temps. for the first part of November.

I just got of the phone with “He who shalt be named” and he informed me that he might start his winter job alittle early here in good ole Central KY.
I don’t know why, but he just doesn’t like the idea of having it snow in our area.

I teach and told my students to get ready for a fun winter of all the frozen treats we can imagine…I just hope that this year the dreaded snow d%$#me gets shifted far away from us and what we deserve: an old-time winter!

Sorry Patty I just saw your question.. I had a girl this go around.. I have 3 boys and 1 girl now.. She was born February 28th and is just as sweet as ever. She has been crawling for a couple of weeks now and can really get around… That will be neat Chris doing videos… Can’t wait for that..

Yeah Patty I cant wait…Yeah we do seem to be the hotspot for the snow… Maybe that will change this year… I do not mind sharing its always more exciting when everyone gets it… My 3 year looked outside the first day we had widespread frost and said look moma it snowed. I laughed so hard. Kids can just be funny sometimes…
