Good Tuesday morning eveyone. I have had some troubles getting to post tonight so I will make this one short and to the point.
A front is crossing the state today with a few sprinkles or light showers early in the day in the north and east. Many areas should remain dry. Temps will hang out in the upper 50s to low 60s with breezy conditons. Another cold morning will be with us Wednesday with temps near freezing. Some areas of eastern Ky will hit the upper 20s again.
Highs Wednesday will likely stay in the 50s in the east and near 60 central Ky. Thursday will start frosty with increasing late day clouds and highs in the 60s. Our storm will roll in Friday with some good rains. Here is a look at the latest GFS…
FRIDAY EVENING
SATURDAY MORNING
SATURDAY EVENING
SUNDAY EVENING
We continune to look good for some nice rain totals Friday into Saturday. This will be a very chilly weekend as well with highs struggling to get to the low 50s. The NWS is going to take a beating with their 60s for highs this weekend. I was going to rip into them… but I honestly don’t have the heart to do it to them as the lack of effort is getting sad with some of them.
More on all this and what other “interesting” things we can cook up for next week later today.
Take care.

Thanks Chris……I can use a rainy, cool weekend just to get caught up on reading and rest!
Thanks Chris…FROST ADVIORY tonight for most of Eastern and Northern Kentucky.
Oops…misspelled “advisory.” Also, I noticed that the NWS offices in Louisville and Charleston have yet to issue a frost or freeze advisory.
It always burns me up!! when the NWS is so biased on their temps with these cold fronts this time of yr… I mean not everyone is a weather nut like us and read Chris’ blog. SO the quote, quote common folk are going into the weekend like Chris said thinking temps will be 60-ish…when in all reality upper 40’s could smack everyone in the face. with a cold rain ..brrrrr… bring on the cold, and snow….
…………………….
my early morning rant, after no sleep and no coffee yet..LOL.. I sure hope we see some measureable rain in this area of the state its extremely DRY and the rivers are low enough to just about cross without getting your knee caps wet down here… and most small creeks and streams are dried up..so a good soaker is needed….
I agree with Chris. You can see the core of that low moving right through the Bluegrass this weekend on the GFS runs. BRRR…it’s gonna’ get cold. How can you ignore this stuff when the GFS advertises it for days on end?
Sad thing is…it’s backing off on any chance at seeing a snow flake this month as the flow looks to flatten out a bit more and the truly cold air should stay north of us through Halloween.
I sure hope it rains…I’m putting my faith in you Chris. I cancelled my camping trip for this weekend. We need the rain so I won’t complain! 🙂
My NWS forecast says “patchy frost” with a low of 29 degrees. I thought anything lower than 32 was considered a freeze, not a frost. At what point does it become a freeze?
As of yesterday, there was no mention of anything remotely frosty. I believe Chris mentioned that Wednesday morning would slap down a few forecasts. As usual, he was right. 🙂
thanks chris, looking forward to the rain coming!!!
Hey gang, how is everyone. Chris is was great seeing you in Lexington last week, just made me realize how much YOU ARE MISSED. Couple of questions, are you going to do a “WINTER FORCAST” or did i miss it lol, and on T.G.s blog someone mentions that other “weather people” are hinting at SNOW flurries next week!!! Is that true. I don’t watch the “others” and don’t know if it is true or not lol. 🙂 Hope everyone is great……..I’ll have to tell Shawna and Bernie to come over here 🙂 🙂 🙂 Time for all of us to talk FOOD lol
HEY CHELLE !!! GOOD TO HEAR FROM YOU..
Yep time to start talking heavy snow, and chicken and dumplings..MMMM…:)
…………………………………
Now time to rant a bit..lol.. I dont know about the rest of you..but I have literally about froze my tail off today, mowing the grass for the LAST time this season with heavy jacket and hoodie on..BRRR.. and When I come in the house I hear on the noaa radio.. and its only 53* here right now at 1pm and they are ranting about saturday being the coolest of the days ahead with rain cooled air temps will struggle to make it into the upper 50’s.!!!…WHAT IN THE WORLD DO THEY THINK IT IS OUT THERE TODAY !!! SWIMMING WEATHER!!! GOOD GRIEF !!!…
AAAAAHHHHHHHH MUCH BETTER, now time to get something WARM to eat…
TIM
CLOUDY, and COLD!!!
53*
Julie..where were you going to camp at? We had a bonfire planned for Friday night, but I think we’ll likely cancel since the models are dumping rain on us during the Friday timeframe.
With regards to freezing temps, its not about the actual low temperature per se, but how long will a location stay below freezing. Since lows tonight will be at or just below freezing, the actual time of that is expected to be short…thus a frost advisory will be issued.
Hey gang, answer a question for me please. What is this talk about snow before Halloween? I also heard about snow around Thanksgiving. Any truth to this?
Hey is this Frankfort Julie that likes frozen Twix? Hope so!
hey gang, dont know about you all but it was absolutely cold around here most of the day, only 53* until the sun popped out around 3 then we made it to 60* thank goodness for ole sunny..lol..
…………………………..
I see some old faces popping back up again, good to hear from you chelle, you need to push the old crew back into gear, the snow will be falling soon and the chicken and dumplings will be the talk for dinner..lol…
Chelle……I thought you were gone forever. I knew at one time you were having trouble posting on the old site, but I thought you’d given up! It’s so good to hear from you. There still are a few of us left. Even Rolo has been showing up occassionally. Tell Bernie Hey and you all don’t be strangers!
Hey Tim will do that, Shawna asked about you just last night ROTFLMAO 🙂 🙂 I’ll tell Bernie also. Glad you are doing O.k.
