Good Tuesday everyone. Thanks for all the nice comments about seeing me back on WKYT again! I have had a lot of emails and calls from people showing me some love and I truly appreciate it. The Lexington Herald Leader even had a nice story on my return in it’s Monday edition. We were the second most viewed story on their web page! I will gladly take the number 2 spot behind the Cats big basketball recruit! GO BIG BLUE!!

OK… enough fluff… let’s get to the weather.

80s will rule on this Tuesday.. AGAIN! A few high clouds will be with us during this time as well. Clouds will thicken a little more on Wednesday with just the smallest chance for a shower by late in the day. Highs will be near 80.

The big change starts Thursday as our front makes it into the state with a band of showers. Here is the GFS for Thursday afternoon…

We won’t be seeing a lot of rain… but we will take each and every drop we can get. Highs Thursday should stay in the 60s.

There is a second system diving into the region for Friday. This one actually looks kind of like a winter type clipper as it should really dig in during the day. Take a look at Friday evening…

A few showers at best with that setup. The big story will be the temps as low 60s Friday may be as good as it gets. Winds will be rather brisk as well. The coldest air of the season is on tap for the weekend as we cold high pressure begins to build in. The map for Saturday morning is a chilly looking one…

That’s actually a pretty interesting map and is one I actually like seeing as we head into the fall as I believe it bodes well for the upcoming winter. With this setup… snowflakes may fly as close to us as the West Virginia mountains.

Saturday will be the coldest day of the season to date. Highs will likely stay in the 50s. Clear skies and light winds will allow for a killing frost or light freeze for Sunday morning across the region.

Looking down the road into next week… I see below normal temps continuing for much of the week. As a matter of fact… the pattern for the rest of the month is likely to stay below normal for our region on average. Some interesting things are showing up for the end of the month as well. More on those thoughts at another time.

Have a great day and take care everyone!
