Good Tuesday everyone. Thanks for all the nice comments about seeing me back on WKYT again! I have had a lot of emails and calls from people showing me some love and I truly appreciate it. The Lexington Herald Leader even had a nice story on my return in it’s Monday edition. We were the second most viewed story on their web page!
I will gladly take the number 2 spot behind the Cats big basketball recruit! GO BIG BLUE!!
OK… enough fluff… let’s get to the weather.
80s will rule on this Tuesday.. AGAIN! A few high clouds will be with us during this time as well. Clouds will thicken a little more on Wednesday with just the smallest chance for a shower by late in the day. Highs will be near 80.
The big change starts Thursday as our front makes it into the state with a band of showers. Here is the GFS for Thursday afternoon…
We won’t be seeing a lot of rain… but we will take each and every drop we can get. Highs Thursday should stay in the 60s.
There is a second system diving into the region for Friday. This one actually looks kind of like a winter type clipper as it should really dig in during the day. Take a look at Friday evening…
A few showers at best with that setup. The big story will be the temps as low 60s Friday may be as good as it gets. Winds will be rather brisk as well. The coldest air of the season is on tap for the weekend as we cold high pressure begins to build in. The map for Saturday morning is a chilly looking one…
That’s actually a pretty interesting map and is one I actually like seeing as we head into the fall as I believe it bodes well for the upcoming winter. With this setup… snowflakes may fly as close to us as the West Virginia mountains. ![]()
Saturday will be the coldest day of the season to date. Highs will likely stay in the 50s. Clear skies and light winds will allow for a killing frost or light freeze for Sunday morning across the region.
Looking down the road into next week… I see below normal temps continuing for much of the week. As a matter of fact… the pattern for the rest of the month is likely to stay below normal for our region on average. Some interesting things are showing up for the end of the month as well.
More on those thoughts at another time.
Have a great day and take care everyone!

Thanks Chris! The warm weather is leaving just as the little goblins’ hit the street. That’s a shame because all those costumes will be hidden under coats. Oh well! As long as they get their treats maybe we won’t be tricked!
I need to set my DVR to record Chris as i don’t get home till after 7 pm
For those of you who didn’t read the Herald-Leader story about Chris, the news director at WKYT expressed concern that all of Chris’ fans might think he’s back for good and be disappointed all over again. He said NOBODY has generated the phone calls and email that inundated the station when Chris left.
So what can we do to get him back for good?? 🙂
The joy on the faces of the anchors and sports reporters is so obvious. Everybody Loves Chris.
Bring on the chance of rain…please!!
Thanks Chris for the update…what was the warmest October temperature on record here in Kentucky?
Is anybody seeing any rain drops in central KY this morning? NAM picked up on some activity here and radar does show something, though it appears so light that it may not be reaching the ground.
It truly was good to see you back on the air Chris. You do a great job too.
I watched you on the news last nite! Sure do miss you. Thank goodness for this blog so I can stay connected with your weather wisdom. Your forecasts are the best.
nice to see you back at wkyt for a few days chris. hopefully clouds will keep the temps down a little today.
Great to have you back. Any chance we could keep you here??? Yoohoo for the cool weather coming. I am sooo ready for it.
I to like seeing Chris back live in action on my tube as well.. It sure would be nice to get him back for good !!! just in time for WINTER WEATHER KAOS !!! oh well I guess we’ll have to settle for what we can get 🙁
………
weatherwise, I am so bored to death with this dry, almost hot day after day cyle we’re in.. I will be glad to see a change to cooler and hopefully wetter days ahead..
oh yeah, something else too…. Chris said: O.K….enough fluff.. we NEVER get enough fluff,…lol…about 12″ of fluff would sure be a welcomed sight in my book…yeah, yeah, yeah I know thats not the fluff he was talking about, but what do ya expect from a winter weather lover… later gang.
Welcome home Chris. I know you like the day shift gig and I do too but what is there to do in Huntington?? You can come back and work the day shift in Lex. maybe at some point. These fronts with a few drops of rain in them are becoming commonplace aren’t they?? Seems high pressure rules the weather world. Once again good to see you on our airwaves.
Well all I know is TG and CB should be a team with the weather locally, hell if its money WKYT needs, i say we start a bring back BAILEY BOY fund.
I got a few grand to chip in.
I mean what would be wrong with the boys splitting the TV duties as long as they are getting PAID the same money.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
MEADOWLANDS R6 2 hoss COACH SHAW.
Rock on CB.
We could all move to Ashland where Chris is at and at night sing HENRY THE EIGHTH I AM. well it work on ghost didn’t it. I have not watch WKYT since Chris left. Chris your little bloggers are very sad.
I don’t watch anymore because Chris is gone either. I really enjoyed watching the past couple of nights when he has been on there. I really wish you would come back.
SNIFF, SNIFF.. Do I smell a tropical storm or hurricane for the east coast this upcoming weekend??? time will tell.
and looking at some of the winter forecasts, and listening to individual thoughts.. It appears we (( MAY )) be sandwiched in between the COLD, and WARM. So that can sometimes be good for snowstorms, but can also be bad for ICE storms and extended warm winter spells…YUCK !! I sure hope this winter is NOT the same ole’,,same ole’..
Could someone post the link to the article about Chris returning to wkyt????
Here ya go crystal!!!

We love our weather dude!!!
Chris,
It sure is good to see you back at wkyt.
It seems like it has been forever since you were in Lexington on air. I can’t believe it has been 4 months. The whole station seems happier!! Can’t you make a deal to come back? You are missed badly!!!!!!!
Chris, you need to print out all these comments and pass them around to everybody at WKYT. We want you back!!
Poor T.G., Todd, and Lauren…
They must have known this would happen. Here’s Chris – back in town and basking in glory.
We can’t help it — we love Chris!!
My money is on same ole same ole until we have something otherwise
by buck the trend
But i really want a blizzard
Drove through a little sprinkle this evening driving from Flemingsburg to Morehead. Not much….but enough to make the blacktop wet.
