Good evening, folks. A Winter Weather Advisory is out for much of central and western Kentucky for later tonight and early Sunday. This is in response to our storm system rolling across the region, bringing rain changing to snow.
Look.. this storm has been talked about on the blog for well over a week. I can’t help what others told you would happen, but my thoughts on this simply have not changed at all.
The wraparound snows will need to be watched closely tonight and early Sunday. A band of moderate to heavy snow will rotate across the region during this time. Where that sets up is still in question on the models, but I suspect it works from western Kentucky into central and northern parts of the state.
Here’s the Winter Weather Advisory…
If the NAM is right, that would need to be extended farther east…
The GFS continues to be the farthest west of all the models…
The European Model is a compromise…
Follow the storm as it comes together…
Enjoy the evening and take care.
chris why is it not gonna snow
Which of these models are usually the most accurate this close to the storm?
Thanks Chris!! I love seeing the word SNOW in the forecast finally!!! Woo hoo.
me too!
Thanks CB for all you do! Looking forward to our snow chances here! Wanting to use our new snowman kit and new sleds (Santa’s the best) some time before spring break arrives!
Thank you Chris, always keeping us informed, and now Pulaski Co is pink, even dark pink in north west corner……appreciate it and I will hope for at least an inch
It will be melted by Monday, Patsy!
Warren county is now under a Winter Weather Advisory also we shall see!
Maybe us in warren co. can get a couple inches out of this bgbecky.
Warren co. is actually under a WWA til 11 AM tomorrow. They say we might get 1-2″ with some people getting 3″. I have my fingers crossed that I wake to a white ground at least.
Good luck snow lovers. Hope you guys and gals see some accumulations. Not looking good for me the NAM and the Euro have the typical donut hole over the Huntington/Ashland area.
Temps crashing in western KY. Paducah is sitting at 33 degrees and falling with snow
I love this site! Thanks Chris!
I think this is just the beginning of what to expect over the next few weeks.
Thanks Chris for all that you do!
Let’s see if Berea can at least get the “coating” we were shown last time that didn’t materialize.
I dunno, huge snow lover but just not feelin’ it this year.
Maybe a coating of white will put me back in the spirit.
So many roads in CKY do look beautiful when the ground and trees are covered.
Just by looking at radar returns, is it just me or does it look like the low is spinning more easterly than northeasterly.
Oh Boy!! Paducah may see a flurry lol
Paducah Webcam pretty impressive roads are snow covered.
there is no way the Bungles can ever win….they snatch defeat from victory’s jaws every time
5 inch snowfall being reported in Mayfield Ky
Awesome! Maybe warren co. and other areas in Ky can get some inches on the ground.
Dry air arriving before the cold in Louisville. Again.
