Good very late Saturday night everyone. I wanted to stop by for a quick update on our weather as we close out the weekend and head into the new week.
Not a whole lot of changes in the short term. Our Sunday will feature an isolated shower or storm risk. Highs will be back in the low 80s and those will be common into the middle of the coming week.
By that time we will be focusing on what appears to be a big storm that will be forming along or just off the Carolina coastline. This looks like a possible biggie event for the east coast. Can we get this system to come far enough west to bring some MUCH needed rains around here. It’s possible and the Canadian model has been all over this possibility for a few days now. Here is what the Saturday run was showing for this coming Friday…
That model has been the farthest west of the bunch. The European has been trending westward by a hair in recent days but is about a day later than the Canadian. Here it is for Saturday…

The poor GFS is lost in the woods in trying to figure out what is going on. As is usually the case… some of our friends at the NWS offices let this model do the work for them. So… we get no mention of a possible east coast storm from them as something to watch. Heck… I am not saying it will bring us rain. But it is something to watch for those of us who do not spend our day worshiping at the alter of the GFS model.
While I am on the subject… KUDOS to the same NWS folks for their handling of last weekends wind event. They were issuing timely updates and storm reports and I had meant to post on that last week but it got lost in the shuffle. See… balanced and fair my friends! ![]()
The next big question will be whether this storm will be tropical in nature or a storm than can incorporate something tropical. There is still a system sitting down in the Caribbean that we should be watching out for. Here is the latest from the National Hurricane Center…
I will update things later Sunday night so make sure you check back. Until then… take care everyone and have a great rest of your weekend.

Well this has nothing to do with weather but there is a “storm”. I went to bed, my husband I thought was shortly behind. I fell asleep. He came to bed MUCH later because of fantasy golf and I woke up. We talked a little. He is now snoozing along and I’m wide awake. Thought I would check out the weather since I am up. I’ll let you know if there is a “gray cloud” over a certain house in Richmond come tomorrow – that is if I ever get back to sleep!!!!
Thanks Chris for the update.

as for rain chances oh canada oh canada.
Iam liking our rain chances for late week and the weekend a little bit better right now. Still… the NWS folks have no mention of an east coast storm.
My dog was running around the yard today, and she was kicking up dust. We really need some rain.
According to the five o’clock radar on this site, there is rain to the west and to the east of my area. I’m right smack in the middle of where there is no rain at all. 🙁
Is all that rain really out there?? It’s a bright sunny day here in Bourbon County.
It is actually raining at my house in Corbin!!! It’s not much, but I’ll take it.
KP….Congrats on your seeing rain! Does it still look clear and feels wet? We haven’t seen it at my house in quite some time and have forgotten what it’s like! LOL! I’ve been at WKU this weekend in Bowling Green for parent weekend. I didn’t see a drop of rain there either. It does look greener the farther you go down BG Parkway though.
Lol Patty, KP sees rain on the radar in areas outside where KP lives not where they live. Kinda like me i see rain on the radar but only way i will get any to fall out of the sky is to turn the hose on and shoot the water straight up 🙁
That’s what we all may have to do Andy Rose! LOL! On the way home from BG we saw clouds that looked like it was raining SOMEWHERE! That’s where the rain is for us all…somewhere other than where we live! LOL!
Hey I would like to find out how you found this blog template from I want it!
Do you permit me if I referenced your webpage post on my facebook account?
