Good very early Sunday morning everyone. I am just dropping by for a very quick little update on the weather and an interesting weekend for yours truely.
I was in Lexington Friday and Saturday doing a little shopping and going to the UK game with the family. I had some work to do around our house there and that included mowing the lawn. Well… that was an adventure since I ran over a next of yellow jackets!! As a kid… I was allergic to bee stings and had to have shots when I would get stung. So me hitting a bee’s nest is a very bad idea. I am mowing along and then BOOM… I am swarmed by bees… stinging me all over. Being the brave boy that I am… I take off running into the house! Problem is… the bee’s were still following me and several had actually decided to hitch a ride with me in my clothes. Next thing you know… I am pulling my best Ricky Bobby from Talladega Nights…
That was basically me, minus the helmet and tighty whities running through my house! To make a long story short… I had about 10 stings but I have apparently grown out of my allergy to them as nothing major happened expect for the normal sting and itching. It took us a little while but we tracked down the bees that got inside the house and terminated them with extreme prejudice. ![]()
As for the lawn… it’s still half mowed! Guess I will give it another go next weekend. This time… I will try to keep my clothes on!
The week ahead-lines coming late Sunday.
Take care.

I’m sorry typing in the dark hitting the wrong keys
Chris I’m really glad that you are ok
Chris.
Sorry to hear about the bee stings. LOL (kidding).
Even since you made that comment about the sun spots or lack of, it got me reading and it is VERY interesting about how a quiet sun causes colder temps here on Earth. I even read where some of the ice sheets are growing. The media only covers the ones melting. But there are others growing faster than the ones melting based on what I read. Oh well,
Looking forward to your next post.
Thanks Chris…I know the feeling of getting a bee sting. It is not good.
Anyway…DENSE FOG ADVISORY for Eastern Kentucky until 10am. Stay safe while driving.
I have had an experience with yellow jackets. They are evil! They attack you for no reason!
Do they mainly nest underground or under porches or both?
Hopefully an early winter will kill those wasps!

Chris…….I’m glad you’re ok, but I was cracking up at the Ricky Bobby reference!!!!!!!!
MarkLex….that’s interesting about the quiet sun. Hope that means a good snow or two this year!!
Many stings and bites take place during the fall
months as the temperature of the days decrease. Reason being, bees, wasps and
insects in general are cold blooded and they linger around people and pets in order
to absorb body heat, therefore increasing the chances of getting stung or bitten.
Last week, I witnessed a 4 year old girl with her hand and forearm swollen
to her elbow, from a wasp sting that she received to her fingertip the day
before. The sight of her hand and arm brought tears to my eyes because I knew
that if she had had “>http://www.BeeStingCure.com”>
Baker’s Venom Cleanser available when she was stung, none of her discomfort
would have elevated to that extreme point of swelling and discomfort.
Our web site “>http://www.BeeStingCure.com”>http://www.BeeStingCure.com
has under gone some new additions worth taking a look at. Old
news commentary video footage from 1988 has been added to

and the link is available at our site. Our formula also works to stop the itch
of the dreaded Itch Mite!
that’s a little scary there chris with the bees. many of the models bring ike into the region in a week or so.

I thought I was reading something from the comedy channel there for a little bit. 🙂 That is hilarious. I’m sure it isn’t for you with the stings but for us reading it was funny.
Now….I have a rain date planned in my reception hall but if it doesn’t rain then I won’t have anything to do with it. This event is Friday so I really need weather event planning right now desparately. Please include a percentage for Friday if you can. Thanks Chris. You are the first place I turn to in my business. Weather so affects events.
Thanks for all you do… and hope your stings are better!!
Chris……The telling of your story was so funny! I laughed so hard when I read it. Like you I was extreamly allergic as a kid as well, so I’m sure you were terrified while it was happening. I’m guessing you didn’t laugh a lot until it was over! But the way you told it……LOL!
Chris sorry I laugh I was out getting our pool ready for the winter ahead and a wasp sting my little toe man that hurt and my foot is swell big time but the wasp got the worst end of that deal. I THINK
I love this long range forecast….dry,dry,dry,dry. Where are all the weather making systems?? Central Ky weather….BORING!!!!!! If it weren’t for the tropics, you weather folks would be taking a long nap due to inactivity 🙂
chris,
i have a nest in my yard too. I have talked to several other folks who have had similar run ins this year. Is there anything to support that this could be a bad year for yellowjackets? what would cause such?
Thx
I could be wrong, but I think it has to do with how dry its been. Usually when you have a wet early summer, and a dry late summer, there tends to be more yellow jackets. a secondary reason might be that when it is dry, people tend to mow thier yard less, since the grass doesn’t grow as quick. The decreased activity in the yard allows the bees to think it is safe to build, or expand.
I had a run in a week ago….the hole in the ground was about the size of a tennis ball. It was a freakin’ bee highway coming in and out of the ground. A little gasoline at night took care of them.
OMG. Yellowjackets…..No sun spots? Could it be?
Has anyone seen the video of the 5 story wave that hit cuba from Ike as it passed? Here’s the link if anyone is interested. It’s pretty incredible!
