Good Sunday evening gang! I wanted to drop by for a quick update and will give you a full update later tonight. All eyes continue to be on Fay and the eventual path this storm may take. Here is a look at the afternoon hurricane model tracks…
Florida Panhandle anyone?
A lot of time before we know exactly where this storm is going and exactly what impact this will have on our weather here in Kentucky. I am growing more confident that it will impact our weather by the end of the week or next weekend. That is certainly not set in stone but it is a strong possibility right now.
Maybe the NWS offices in Jackson and Louisville will get around to looking at some of these models before they put out another “i’m too busy to deal with the extended forecast” discussion. ![]()
Update coming later tonight. Take care.

Thanks Chris…looks like the folks at NWS Jackson need to eat their Wheaties and look at the National Hurricane Center’s map, which still places Kentucky in Fay’s cone and the center of circulation (as of 8pm tonight) in Southwest Virginia—just a hop, skip, and jump from the Kentucky border.
thanks chris, hopefully these trends will continue.
Looks like the 11:00pm update from the NHC has Fay over pikeville at 8:00pm friday maybe we can get some rain , my yard and garden is dieing as i type.
Hey guys if it over pikeville what will we get in eastern ky I’m still in TN but i will be back friday i hate to travel in the rain but we sure need it
I’m seeing this as a primarily southern and eastern Kentucky rainmaker from this vantage point.
Think it would be a stretch to get it to pull due north once it hits land. It’s more likely to curve to the northeast after it hits Florida, Georgia and Alabama, so I think we’ll just see a glancing strike from this one.
Things could change though!
Hello, comrade! I am absolutely acclaim your way of assessment and all of joined.
