Happy Monday everyone! Here is hoping you had a wonderful weekend. There is an awful lot to talk about in the world of weather for the the week ahead. The pattern ahead looks a lot like September in many ways. Let’s get into it all with more pics than you can handle! ![]()
Tropical Storm Edouard did indeed form Sunday in the Gulf of Mexico. Here is a look at the sat shot…
This storm will be heading toward Texas in the coming days and has a shot a growing into a Hurricane. Here is the forecast track from the Hurricane Center…
There is yet another system out in the Atlantic that as a shot to become a storm this week.
Back here in the bluegrass state. Our week will start out hot with temps in the 90-95 degree range for Monday and Tuesday. This is nothing out of the ordinary and it will be a hit and run heat.
A cold front will move in Tuesday night and Wednesday. Our first chance of storms will likely come as early as Tuesday evening. Some of the storms into Wednesday could be strong with locally heavy rains. Here is the GFS for Wednesday morning…
The front will likely check up just to our south with little systems rotating in from the northwest. Each will give us the chance for some showers and storms.
GFS FRIDAY MORNING
By the weekend… a cool canadian air mass will be moving into the eastern half of the country. Yes… a taste of fall will be in the air! ![]()
GFS Saturday Morning
The upper air charts show a nice little blocking pattern setting up…
GFS Thursday Morning
GFS Saturday Morning
That is a chart that has it’s eyes on you! ![]()
Highs by the weekend may be in the upper 70s with lows that can get cool. Can we get some upper 40s?
That below normal to normal pattern will be with us into the middle of the month. Like I said… it’s a week that will look very much like September!
I will update again later today. Take care.

I only hope I can make it through this week of heat to get to that autumn cool down. These old bones can’t take much more of the hot and humidity.
Also, does that storm in the Gulf have any chance that it will do damage to any oil rigs there? Even the smallest hint that it may will bring our gas prices back up. It doesn’t take much for those oil barons to see dollar signs in their eyes!
I like this forecast, Not a big fan of the really hot stuff.
Thanks Chris…can’t wait for the cooldown.
Patty i may be wrong but it looks like its headed right for the oil rigs from the last map i saw of the rigs!!!!!!!Patty try to drink lots of liquids and wear cool clothes.
Edouard is going to go over the most dense concentration of rigs in the Gulf, then most likely make landfall in an area full of refineries. Although the storm may not grow to be very powerful, any move by the oil companies to evacuate their rigs will prompt oil speculators to action. I gassed up last night, just in case.
I’m am ready to gang for the cool air. 40’s at night, ahh maybe we can turn the A.C. off for a while…Kinda sounds like an early fall could possibly be around the corner… SNOW in OCTOBER anyone??..lol..do we have any takers???… going once, going twice, sold to everyone that loves snow…LOL.
I sure hope those storms in the Gulf don’t do any damage to the oil rigs, my goodness gas is just now starting to come down alittle. There is a station in Barbourville that has regular unleaded for $3.49 . Its sad when your saying 3.49 is a deal on gas!! WEll everyone hang in there, and go ahead and drag the jackets out of winter storage, I would say if we see lows around 50 after being in the mid and upper 90’s we’ll all FREEZE to death !!.. later gang.
Tim they don’t have to do any damage they will raise prices if there is any possibility to getting damaged
Andy Rose I agree they are justing waiting to raise gas prices they could be a storm heading for florida and they try to raise gas they know they can and they are going to take full advantage of us all….
Temps. here are being over-forecast. We are in the middle of the afternoon now and are currently running several degrees below what was forecast. I figure the 97 degree high forecast for tomorrow will be a big mistake. But I’m ready for the cooler weather this weekend!
Chris, you need to keep the storms and rain at bay until early Wednesday morning. I have lawn seats to see Dave Matthews in Cincy Tuesday night, don’t want to get soaked.
As for the gas prices, they don’t need ANY reason to raise them, they just do it.
WOW, I am ready for fall. Bring on the mild weather and the fall festivals. Sounds like good weather for the 127 Yard Sale.
I like the lower temps, no doubt about it. Just got back from Myrtle, the weather was great except for the daily 3:00 storms.
As for gasoline prices, oil went down 4.00 a barrel today, wholesale refined gas dipped under 3.00 a gallon. There would be no justification for a rise in prices. I am hearing reports of the mid 3.40s out of Middlesboro, anything is better than the 4.00/gallon mark.
crystal……It was so hot in there today. If I can get through tomorrow the rest of the week will be a slamdunk! I can’t imagine how roofers and construction workers do it! I keep a huge bottle of ice on my desk and as it melts I add water. I have several in the freezer. Believe me it helps! Thanks for caring Crystal!
I really like the sound of the forcast. I can hardly wait till fall and cooler temps. Chris we sure do miss you in Lexington. The morning show isn’t the same without you. I also need to keep up with the blog more.
there hasn’t been any justification of gas being over $2 but it has been for a very long time. Just because there isn’t justification for it doesn’t mean they don’t wanna make money
oil did go down today, but that was likely do to other non weather factors. those of you in NE ky need to leave the weatherradios on overnight as that mesoscale complex over indiana will try to move in overnight.
This is a really good read for me, Must admit that you are one of the best bloggers I ever saw. Thanks for posting this informative article.
