Hello everyone. It looks like a very stormy overnight and early Thursday for most of the state. Showers and thunderstorms will be on the increase and these can produce some very heavy rains across the state. High water may end up being a huge concern in some areas before it’s all over.
Here is a radar loop for you. Hopefully I have set it up to where it will continue to update for you.
If it doesn’t update… oh well. At least you get a look at the stuff that is rolling our way.
The models are going gangbusters with rainfall totals from this system. Here is a look at the latest GFS rain totals.
That is showing the potential for fairly widespread 2″-3″ rain amounts. That would certainly be enough to cause flash flooding so please stay alert to the high water potential through eary Thursday.
This is basically what is left of former Hurricane Dolly so you know it has a ton of deep tropical moisture to work with.
I will update the blog as I can.
Stay safe and take care.

Chris, thanks so much for the update. A quick question about the blog – it is loading differently for me the past couple of days. There is a huge blank space before your written text appears. It has not always displayed this way. However, when I click on the comments section, the space disappears and everything displays normally. Any thoughts as to what I need to do to correct it? Thanks!
I love all this rain! I wish I could stay home with a good book and watch it come down.
Thanks Chris…the rain has been coming down here in Letcher County along with thunder and lightning…reports of power outages in parts of the county. Stay safe.
Rain is coming down good in Pikeville for a chance!!! Chris keep up the great work and remember your weekend is almost here!!!!!! I think i will curl up with a good book.
A good day to sleep in if you can, we have had several rounds of heavy rain, thunder and lightning here in whitley co. this morning. and getting ready for another round as the satellite signal goes in and out as I type. so hopefully everyone is getting a good soaking. All the rain is sure keeping the lawn mowers in business down here..
