Hello gang and welcome to the middle of the week. Here is hoping this blog post finds you doing well. We have an active couple of weather days ahead of us and some of it is coming from an unlikely source. The leftovers of what used to be powerful Hurrican Dolly will be moving into Kentucky the next few days.
What is left of this system is a little spin and some deep moisture across the plains. Here is a sat shot…
What’s left of Dolly will interact with a cold front to produce increasing amounts of showers and thunderstorms. The best chance will come Wednesday night into Thursday when some very heavy rains and strong storms will be possible.
Here is a closeup of the rainfall totals from a couple of our models…
NAM
GFS
The exact placement of the heaviest rains won’t be known until we see the storms actually setting up. Both of the models from above show rain totals in excess of a couple of inches. We will have to closely watch this situation and I will update as needed.
Beyond that… we see the heat trying to kick in full steam across the region by later this weekend and early next week. Before that can happen… we can sometimes get some clusters of storms to develop on the nose of the heat ridge and that’s something to watch for Saturday and Sunday.
Then the heat moves in for Monday and Tuesday with low to mid 90s a pretty good bet. 100 degree heat won’t be too far away from us.
Have a great day and I will update again later. Take care.

Chris……..I welcome the rain, but as you know, not that heat and humidity!
Thanks Chris for the update.
Thanks for the heads up, Chris! Looks like we have a pretty good chance to see some reain statewide from this system! I sure hope so, as we are getting into the “really need it bad” category! 😉 Still, it is not as dry as last summer.
You think we have a chance to see much severe weather out of this system, or more flooding type rains? I know you will update and keep us posted. Just wanted to know your thought on that. Thanks and have a GREAT day today!
Chris…this is the first time that I have looked at this site…it is BEAUTIFUL!

You bloggers in the southern part of the state have been hit several times today and tonight haven’t you? I think you all were pretty dry there. I guess it’s a welcome sight!
Looks to be a fairly active overnight period for us here as well, as the environment is very moist and still fairly unstable.
Expect to see heavy rains and thunderstorms across the board overnight. A severe thunderstorm watch is not out of the question, but I can’t fully say what the odds are of that happening. Tornado watch still out to our west–this may be extended east at least to our western viewing area if the storms in the Bowling Green area continue to intensify.
Overall, however, the main threat tonight and overnight will be from very heavy rains and possible flash flooding across a good chunk of the Bluegrass State.
CB..!!!!
