Good Wednesday, everyone. We have a wild day of weather across the commonwealth of Kentucky This is a powerful Ohio Valley winter storm we’ve been tracking for more than a week, and it’s brining something for everyone over the next few days.
Heavy rain and thunder starts the day. Heavy rains could cause local high water issues. Temps through noon will be in the upper 50s and low 60s across the central and east, but quite a bit colder in the west.
Much colder air pushes into the region during the afternoon. Temps by early evening drop into the upper 30s and low 40s across the central and east, with low 30s in the west.
Rain changes to snow this afternoon west and into the evening across the central and east. Temps quickly drop close to the freezing mark during this time.
Wet snows continue into Thursday with light accumulations a good bet. Highs will only be in the low 30s for many.
Winds through Thursday will be very gusty and could top 40mph at times.
At this point, all we can do is track the changes. I have you all set to do just that…

I will update things later today. Enjoy the walk on the wild side and take care.
Oh how it will be so nice to be talking about 70s instead of 30s for highs! So tired of Winter
It is about over:) Certainly, it was not as harsh as last year, but I am getting excited about spring storms and warmer days myself. Now, we will just have to watch for the possible, sneaky March snowstorm threat. It doesn’t happen ever year, but when it does, March can throw some nasty snowstorms!
Needing some sunshine in the worst way. March has been running about 2 inches above for average rainfall for most of the past five years. It would be nice to have some dry days this year, but as CB alluded to in an earlier post, the wet streak looks to continue. Stinks not being able to enjoy many nice days during the transition to spring.
Another ‘wind driven major winter storm’, setting up just to our west though
Thanks Chris. We have winds starting to really whip here in Somerset at the moment. Looks like it was a good move to put out
the trash without the can this morning! At least I won’t have to scour the neighborhood for my trashcan! Wore a light jacked to work this morning. Going to trade it out for the heavier one when I go home for lunch! I know to do that, thanks to this blog and Kentuckyweather! Have a great Hump Day everyone! Stay dry and warm!
WWA for Jefferson County (Louisville) from 6p to 1a for today.
Not yet.
Oh by the way, there is a Jefferson County in Georgia. The city is Louisville, but it’s pronounced Lewis-ville. It’s about an hour or a little less southwest of Augusta, the current capital. But, for a 10-year span, Louisville was the capital, I think from 1796 to 1806, something like that. And it is currently 71 degrees there….so I guess they are not under the WWA either.
What was I thinking? Augusta was another former capital of Georgia. Weather Channel USA or Atlanta is the capital
