Good afternoon, everyone. Our wild weather day rolls on as winter sweeps eastward across the state through the rest of the day. Temps are currently in the 60s in central and eastern Kentucky with low 30s in the west. The 30s win the battle with crashing temps and rain changing to snow.
We’re still seeing some heavy rain producing showers and thunderstorms ahead of this change. Those downpours can produce some local high water issues.
A 30 degree drop presses eastward across the state this afternoon and evening. That takes our temps to near freezing with snow breaking out. That snow hangs tough through Thursday on a strong northwesterly wind flow. How much of this will actually stick? There’s no doubt we are fighting a warm ground and will see some melting, but local accumulations of an inch or two are possible. Much of that will be on grassy and elevated surfaces.
The GFS continues to show the best chance for a wet snowfall…
The NAM shows more of the “local” accumulations…
If one looks a little closer at the difference between the models, it’s all about the temps. The GFS is a few degrees colder on Thursday than the NAM is, thus has less melting.
Whatever is out there will show up on your wild weather trackers…

I will have a full update on WKYT-TV starting at 4pm. Another update comes your way this evening. Take care.
It is definitely windy. Time to get my trash can and hunt the lid. Guess what? It was not a surprise that we would have mega wind today. Our friendly weather dude warned us …. Thanks Chris !
Still say minor accumulations at best. Half inch maybe. Windy rain is the main story. I believe Mr Bailey is right though, it will be a teeter totter weather experience for the next few weeks.
With temps in the 30s and warm ground, seems the only places that will have accumulated snow are insulated or other surfaces (metal, wood, etc). Will be interesting to see much snow actually on the ground beyond snapchat type.
58 degrees here in extreme northern Kentucky! It’s just starting to get a little breezy.
Already down to 38 in Nashville TN 🙁 . The brutal wind makes it feel even colder. It’s nasty days like this that I’m glad I can’t see the wx outside (my workplace office has no exterior windows).
So far in my area, just your typical Spring system. Few brief showers, some wind then sunny. I expect a few flurries may blow around tomorrow, pretty uneventful.
Sleet mixing in with rain here in Middletown area.
Didn’t get any rain, few showers, mostly been a nice breezy day. .
I’m over this ridiculous wind.. Geez.
Wind main story. Not snow. Bring on the 50’s/60’s this weekend!
Snowing in east LOU.
Does this thing have a bust even for a wet non-sticking snow. CB didn’t even update the blog and it looks to be breaking up as it moves East. I don’t even think most areas picked up much rain from it. I was on the road from 8-4 and drove halfway through the state and it didn’t rain a lot. Did any area get much after this morning?
We had an inch in Knox
That was about right for us. I saw some pockets of hard rain today, but nothing widespread. It was pouring early this morning. I thought this was more of an all day event.
