Good Sunday morning to one and all. Here is hoping you are having one heck of a weekend. It has been a hot one and that heat will be with us once again later Today.
Before we get into the weather around here… let’s get a little update on the tropics. We have Tropical Storm Cristobal churning away just off the carolina coast. Here is the latest sat shot from our little storm…
It’s not the most impressive of systems but it is causing some rough surf, high winds and some heavy rains for beach goers. This system will continue to roll northeast just offshore over the next few days. It will not become a hurricane!
Bertha is still way out there in the Atlantic and is FINALLY ready to go away. As we lose Bertha… we may very well gain another storm in the Caribbean over the next couple of days.
As far as back here in good ol’ Kentucky… it’s heat and storms.
Our Sunday will see temps back to around 90 with some scattered storms developing. A much better shot of showers and storms will roll in here for Monday and Tuesday. Some of these storms later Monday may be on the strong side. The Storm Prediction Center as parts of the area in a slight risk…
Of course the blog will follow any storms that go up the next few days and will let keep you updated on any severe weather potential.

Yeah, I’m still up too..LOL… My wife decided to bake a LATE blackberry cobbler for after church dinner tomorrow, and yours truley is up waiting for it to get done baking..Oh well.. Interaction with land has kept TS Cristobal from really getting any convection to it’s western side. As of yesterday afternoon, my family in Wilmington, NC had received up to 3.5 inches of rain, while my family in Hampstead, NC had only received 1/4″ of rain. There’s 20 miles between the two towns – quite a dramatic difference.
Randy is right. Hurricane Hunters have finally found a closed circulation with 94L in the Carribean. Looks to be officially TS Dolly shortly.

Slight risk of severe weather today in the northern half of the state. SPC outlines areas from around Louisville, down toward Jackson, then east to Pikeville, and all points north through the rest of the evening.
If any severe thunderstorms pop up to our northwest this afternoon, a squall line may form in a similar location as did the last time—in Iowa and Illinois, moving into Indiana. If the line forms, it will weaken considerably by the time it heads into Kentucky. Other strong storms are also possible into a large portion of Ohio.
Monday may actually start off cloudy if the storms fire to our northwest within the next 3-6 hours.
Isolated storms may pop up throughout the course of the afternoon, and any of them could reach severe status, but most of them should stay below that threshhold.
