Hello everyone! Here is hoping this blog finds you doing well. We are working our way toward the weekend and the forecast takes on more and more importance for a lot of people. After a stormy couple of days… we catch a break for a few then we go right back into the storms by… you guessed it… the weekend.
I just realized I haven’t done a true headlines for the new blog yet. Well… here goes the first!
1. Thursday looks to be a very ncie day with temps in the low to middle 80s under partly sunny skies. Humidity levels will be much lower as well.
2. I still can’t shake the thought of a popup shower or storm near the Tn border Thursday afternoon.
3. Friday looks good as well with mid to uper 80s with southwesterly winds picking up ahead of our next front.
4. That front will arrive on the scene Saturday with showers and thunderstorms on the increase. We could see pretty good coverage on the rains by later in the day int Sat night. Locally heavy rains will be with us.
5. Sunday should start off with some morning showers and storms with improving conditions by the end of the day. Much cooler air will filter into the state during this time.
6. Below normal temps will be with us into the early and middle parts of next week.
7. I still can’t find any real periods of above normal temps coming our way over the next few weeks.
8. Hurricane Bertha is making a hard right in the Atlantic and will swim with the fishes.
Have a great Thursday and I will update again later on in the day.
Take care.

Thanks Chris! I like the it that you can’t find any oppresive summer heat in the near future. Now what about humidiyt? It still feels pretty bad when it’s around, even if the temps aren’t that bad. When Saturday does the rain get here? Will we still have part of the day?
Thanks Chris for the update.
With my climatology background I know it’s risky to make seasonal calls. But at this point I think it’s safe to say we’ve escaped the threat of drought this year. Our last 9 consecutive months had normal (1) or above normal (8) rainfall! And July is continuing to provide off/on rainfall. The threat of drought like we saw last year is almost non-existant now. And that is great news!
Thanks for keeping us informed with an accurate short and long range forecast. Your efforts are very much appreciated.
Although I will say that southern KY apparently has not had as much rainfall as we’ve gotten up here in the Bluegrass. Many people across the southern counties say it’s pretty dry down there.
Chris have you started your move to ashland yet? I don’t envy you there. So you see cooler air on the way great!!!!!
Thanks! We love your blog and read everyday. Keep up the great job!!!
Thanks for the update, Chris! We had a pretty good rain this morning here, and it is very nice outside right now. Temp is at 77 degrees, and we have mostly cloudy skies. Nice gentle breeze, too.
Looking forward to the next update. I love the new site!
the rain may last into sunday pm in the east we’ll see. the first few days of aug could be above norm looking at the lastest long range gfs.
Just curious….is anything going on in the tropics besides Bertha?
Mello, I keep up with the tropics by going to wunderground.com (weather underground). Click on the tropical weather, and it will give you everything you need.
Thanks feederband!!
Jackson County schools are starting on Aug. 6 so you can pretty much bet that it will be very hot and humid for the first of Aug. We always start when it is very hot and sticky.
Sure hope the next week is a little cooler, the family is headed to Sevierville tomorrow for a week. I would like it to be in the low 80’s high 70’s with little humidity. I am taking my computer, so I may have time to send greetings from TN.
