Good Monday, everyone. We have some much better weather rolling our way over the next few days. That’s the good part of the forecast. The bad part is… It’s not going to last very long. Another strong cold front is on the way for the end of the week.
Highs today will range from the low 50s in the east to near 60 in the far west. The 60s are going to surge in here on Tuesday with a 70 possible by Wednesday.
This is ahead of our late week cold front that should arrive Thursday. This front will likely have a band of strong thunderstorms along and ahead of it…
Watch how quickly our temps go from above normal to below normal from Thursday into Friday…
That takes us into Easter Weekend and we will have to watch for another system late Sunday into Monday…
That’s not a good look for the last days of March, and it’s a pattern that rolls into early April…
Yippee.
Make it a great day and take care.
One week and counting since we’ve had any precip in southeast ky.. The forest fires could get out of hand this week..
Indeed, the Jackson KY office of the NWS has issued a Red Flag Warning for Tuesday covering much of eastern Kentucky.
With strong winds expected, everybody needs to watch spent cigarette butts and other sources that could accidently set off brush fires.
As CB mentioned, storms will arrive by Thursday. Some of the storms could be strong if not severe. Hopefully any severe stuff will stay to our south, but we have several days to see how the models play out.
I miss actual seasons with normal and expected temperatures.
I wonder how many days, in say the last 3 years or so, have been within 1-3 degrees of the normal temp? I wouldn’t use the NWS station at the airport (too high bias) or the Mesonet in Madison (too low bias), so maybe the WKYT temp records.
I’m tired of being cold…
Thanks Chris. Tired of the yo yo in the temps. It’s playing havoc with my sinuses and allergies. I’m sure I’m not alone. Today has been very pretty , if a little cool. When, if ever again, do you see some more ‘normal’ temps headed our way? I know there are the respective ‘winters’ we have to go through but overall, in April shouldn’t we start seeing a bit warmer temps for normal highs? Things have been extreme for the past few years, so it’s hard to tell what is ‘nitmal.’ Enjoy the rest of the day everyone. Thanks for all you do Chris.
You’re not alone Coffeelady. I’ve been running a fever of 104. My dad has been sick for over a week. This weather is killing us. I wish it would turn warm and stay that way for a while. I’m moving to Virginia Beach in late July. The allergie and pollen levels are not as near as bad there. I’m taking vacation there for the 2nd time this coming May. I can breath so much better there.
