Good Wednesday, everyone. We have a windy and stormy day taking shape across our part of the world. This will usher in a bit of a winter looking pattern for the end of the week into the coming weekend. It’s a pattern that can even throw some snowflakes our way by the start of the weekend.
Showers and storms increase from west to east today as our next cold front arrives. Ahead of this front, winds will become very gusty and could hit 40-45mph at times. Temps will also reach the 60s before the rains arrive…
I leave you with your Monday tracking toys…
Colder winds will blow on Thursday with readings in the upper 40s to low 50s. Additional showers will continue across the entire region.
The real cold arrives behind the next system diving in Friday into Saturday. Initial rain showers will try to mix with snowflakes by late Friday, with a better chance for snow showers and flurries arriving Friday night into Saturday…
Highs on Saturday may struggle to reach 40 across central and eastern Kentucky. As skies clear, temps tank Saturday night and could set records by Sunday morning.
Temps by early next week will spike into the 60s as showers and storms increase. This action may unleash another round of below freezing temps…
That’s cold, and that’s ugly!
Enjoy your day and take care.
Well, we are going through numerous freeze advisories with no freezes, but if we did not have a freeze/frost advisory, sure enough we would get damage (LOL)! If we can survive Saturday night, then we will be doing fair considering all of the threats we have endured since last weekend. I have no damage to report at all here in Harlan except for fire conditions due to very dry conditions and repeated rounds of windy days!!!
Make it stop!!
Chris, looks like a good weekend to stay in and read a good book, or catch up on some dvr or movies. Unfortunately, some of us have to work Saturday, so I guess we will just endure it and go on. This morning it was cool but not too cold. MY back deck thermometer said 39. My truck said 41. So I will split the difference and say it was 40. 🙂 The wind has really picked up though. It s gusting to about 25-30 mph now. And the clouds are starting to thicken up.
Ah well, its hump day for many, just another work day for others.
Either way, have a great Wednesday everyone. Thanks Chris, for all you do.
Ugh, going to spend all day Saturday outside at a sporting event watching the kiddos. I’m chilled just thinking about it.
This is when you wake up Saturday, take one look at the kiddos and say, “Oh man! You’ve all got horrible cases of pink eye! You can’t go anywhere today! And no, don’t look in the mirror, it’s hideous!” When it suddenly clears up by Sunday, just consider yourselves lucky. 😉
All we can do is be glad that it’s one day closer to this pattern eventually breaking up. Have previous El Niños caused similar spells like this or 2007?
Stop blaming the children and start taking personal responsibility for your weather Hamlin.
I guess will have frost on derby day this year the way this pattern is playing out, then get ready for heat. Seem we just can’t buy nice weather in these parts!
We get nice weather in Kentucky about September of each year. But by then just about everybody wants winter to hurry up and get here.
Chris why is it the storms fall apart or weaken by the time it gets to eastern ky? Just curious I watch system after system on radar and when it gets here it’s either weak or has fell apart in comparison to what it was say in Lexington? I always wondered why that happend? Thank you very much.
That’s a very good question Crystal. I’ve always wondered the same. It seems like it never fails…they always fall apart.
