Good evening everyone. A swath of light snow continues to roll southeastward across central and eastern Kentucky and it’s packing a nice little punch. Moderate to heavy bands of snow are showing up just south of Interstate 64. These bands can drop a quick inch or two in a short amount of time and cause roads to become snow covered.
This is a view of the evening commute in Richmond…
I pulled that from my twitter feed and I plan on blowing it up with information and retweets about what you guys are seeing out there. Keep me updated via twitter and here on the blog. Don’t forget about the tracking tools on the top of the page and you can also upload your own weather pics. Are the kids playing in the snow? Show them off by uploading some pics.
Enjoy the snow and take care.
Enjoy this able cause it’ll be the last for a couple weeks 😉
Heaviest rate of snowfall I have seen in Richmond (snow desert of KY) in seven years. It probably won’t last long but it sure looks great.
3 official inches on my official back deck measured by my official daughter with our official ruler… Not bad for a fast moving clipper. Now for the real stuff…
The dome has shifted north to Harrison County. Looks like we are parting the white sea!
North Rich has now busted and inch 🙂
an inch… Could we breach the big 2.0????
Mr. Negative getting snow! Wow what negative spin will you put on this little over acheiver?????
How is negative reporting results? Everything posted so far has been results.
Calling small snows for what they are is not being negative, but stating fact. They are more dangerous than big snows, but are pretty much all we get. That and ice.
Nope, I am Mr. Quadratic Equation, since I solve and base on absolutes 😉
Bubba you are the man…..Can’t get excited over a couple inches of snow….I am like you…Need an old school thumping that lasts a week our two or three. Kentucky has not seen something like that in a long while. I am holding out on the big one.
Keep up all your posts as we love to here from you and rolo and mitch, and mike and I can name a few more but it is late and I have to track some flurries….
THINKS SNOW my Quadratic Equation person….Facts are facts and that is it….
Congrats!!!!! I’m still wating on getting over an inch of snow here at my house for the yr
How much did you get on the north end? I’ve got 2-3 inches here in downtown.
We are at about 2″ now. Very slick with cars wrecked and or stuck in ditches.
How are the roads in Richmond and 75?
Real slick.
got 0.68 inch in my area of GUNCHESTER, had HEAVY BAND there for bit, very light now.
Nothing to see here not evem a flurry in knox
sugar coating here at my house in bimble but thats about it…
Not a flake here in Somerset now, either, Tim and Andy, after it started out pouring for about 20 minutes. I think we will get left out….again. BubbaG, glad you are getting some out of this. Maybe we will get some before the winter is over to match your 2 inches….So, far, we’ve had about an inch for the winter.
2″ in Mercer County and counting.
Hubby says it looks like we have about 2 inches in Burgin and still snowing….So pretty 🙂
the picture didnt come threw of the evening commute in richmond
Just a “dusting” in Lexington, but still snowing. Roads are covered though.
Inch and a half to two inches here in Rockcastle, finally a nice coating. Now the light snow falling makes for a nice scene and I love to hear the crunch under my shoes
We here in Versailles MIGHT have an inch, probably less. It sure is pretty though!
Well..I got nothing in Lexington. Dang. This sucks. :'(
The snow is heading more south then? North Madison has light snow and about 1.5″ on the ground so far. Not sure if snowing ATM since watching football.
Still snowing and VERY slick. Cars stuck trying to get around on the back roads. My wife is trying get home and having to wait and go around people stuck. Seems we will bust 2″ on the ground.
Looks like Harlan Co.is going to miss out on the action 🙁
nothing here in bell co either
Olive in NW Lex Nd we got about half an inch

Snow is slacking off now, but I’ve got 2″ here in W. Mercer. It’s beautiful!
2-3 inches in downtown Richmond. I’ll post pics later.
And I quote LEX 18:
“A few snow showers or flurries will be possible later in the afternoon and Saturday evening, but little if any accumulation is likely.”
I find this hilarious because I KNOW for a fact LEX’s facebook page said this morning that Central KY could expect 1-3 inches… even commented on the posting… and now, all of their posts have been changed to “trace/dusting – 1 inch”… seriously?
No more snow advisory in Somerset. Oh well.
Around 2 inches here in breathitt co.
About .25in of snow in east Frankfort, bands have set up south of I64. 3in total’s looks possible some in some spots in Scentral KY??
Pouring the snow in Lexington now.
Well, I got 4″ of snow currently(Bardstown) and my Niner’s won. What a lovely day! 🙂
Boooo! 😉
Double BOOO!!!
Go niners!!
Looks like the snow all went north of us here in the Lake Cumberland area. Oh well….always a bridesmaid, never a bride….guess that means we will just sigh and wait for the next one, and hope it gets this far south. You guys who are getting it, please enjoy it for us, as well. ~BIG disappointed sigh~
i feel your pain tonight !! watching all the snow just skirt to our north…UGH!!
We have breached 3″ now in north Richmond. Light snow right now.
Ankel biter 🙂 ?
Yep, official ankle biter. Light snow is still steady, so there is a shot of breaching 4″. I do not recall getting that much at one time last year, but a BUNCH of one and two inch events and one three incher. I think.
My measurement at 730 must have been understated, since we are now past 3″ and not falling fast enough to gain about 2″ in less than two hours. Unless I missed some heavy falls during football.
Just went out and measured the back deck and I’ve got exactly 2 and 3/4 inches. Still light snow here in Richmond as well.
Here’s some pics:

Any chance we get some light accumulations tuesday?
Thought you answered that with your 1st post
Thanks. I’ll keep from posting now just love snow
Just measured 4 inches and it is still pouring in Southern Pike County! I also just made a big bowl of snow cream, delicious!!!
Two and a Half to about Three inches here in Northern Rockcastle. By far best snow of the season. Still snowing
A pic of snow on the fence post. Close to three inches.

Just came in from Mt Sterling along 11 into Fleming County….snow coming down pretty good. Starting to stick to the roads.
Snowing again in N. E-Town… we probably have an inch or slight more. Walking out in it this evening was pure heaven. 🙂
Looks like 3 inches in my part of Richmond ….. maybe a little more. (Union City area).
Last post! God bless u all!!! Hope everybody gets the weather they wanr
Hope everyone gets the weather they *want this winter. God bless!!! Signing off:)
must be nice… lexington got squat. :/
almost 1.5″ here in Valley Station outside Louisville. I think this clipper overachieved for many of us. Most locations south of Louisville were expecting 1-2″ yet several are reporting 2″+.
1115 and we have about 1/2″ here in the GTOWN area of Metro Lou. A little more north and west and we would be getting into the 2-3 inch range. ohh well there is plenty of winter left. Going back to the local bar to have a couple more….I am walking by the way….local bar is only a block away….
Snow is really coming down in Pikeville.I have enjoyed watching it.
Last measurement tonight, 4 1/2 inches and still snowing!
We got around 2 inches here. For a while it looked like we were gonna get 3 or 4. It brings our seasonal total to about 4 inches.
i think the overall pattern is changing
After next week looks like warmer temps are coming for us folks in ky…Jetstream begins to pull north into Eastern Canada which bring much warmer temperatures…Should see some shots at some heavy rain as the weeks go by along with possible record temps…Also looks like northwest cali and beyond will be dealing with mudslides, rain and big snows in the mountains..Things are coming together for a big time event out in the northwest…Im sure many can remember seeing the houses sliding off cliffs on tv before…Looks like it may happen again…I guess one word can describe the pattern ahead….SUCKS
