Good Tuesday evening. We have a quick hitting wet snow heading into the area overnight into Wednesday. This system will be fighting temps just above freezing and a mild ground. But, it should still be able to put down some slushy accumulation.
Here is something that’s been a rarity this winter,a first call for snowfall map…
Much of what falls will be melting on contact… especially across the south. Elevated and grassy surfaces will be the main areas to see some accumulating snow. I’m not expecting a whole lot in the way of slick travel, but it may come down hard enough to cause a quick slick spot.
Light snow will taper off from west to east Wednesday afternoon into the evening.
This isn’t a one and done snow chance. I like the Friday night into Saturday morning chance for snow along and behind an arctic front. This will usher in some very cold air for the weekend and some temps may not make it out of the 20s for highs.
We also have a couple of systems to watch into next week. Old Man Winter is trying to prove he is still alive and kicking.
Have a great evening and take care.
Mighty interesting!
Even if it’s more than the frosty mornings we’ve had the last two days, I will be excited. To hear of the possibility of snow these days, though, sorta shocks me.
Instead of believing it when we see it, it should we’ll see it when we believe it! Ya gotta have faith….
I like the way you think, Snowman! 🙂
I could use a snow day right about now….doesn’t look like this system will deliver enough for that but hoping the weekend brings some snow. The snow lover in me is fighting spring fever for dear life 😉
Here comes the moisture. Whatever form of precip that ends up falling over Ncentral KY, the current radar is already creating a vacuum for the aforementioned area! It reminds me in shape of the electric monster from the Johny Quest cartoon!
well temperature is down to 34 here in knox co. with moisture moving in…hope its snow….
and to my friends on here on a non weather related note…my mom has been in ICU on a ventalater for 2 days now…asking for prayers…thanks guys…
Praying BlizzardTim!
Done!
I’ll be keeping your Mom in my thoughts tonight Tim!
Praying your mom will be okay.
Praying for her, Tim. And you too. 🙁 ♥ (((Hugs)))
Praying…
Be prepared for a sole slusher. Hopefully not topped off by salt….
Wouldn’t that be a daiquiri??
BTW: Is that I64 fence uncanny or what?
It is what it is and has certainly stood the test of time. Instead of a daiquiri I’ll take a margarita.
Agreed on the fence and the margarita.
Temps up here in Northern Kentucky are already below freezing. I expect a rough commute in the morning.
Temps here in knox co. Southern ky at 32 (mesonet) 29 at my house with a huge frost!
I didn’t think the temps were suppose to fall below freezing tonight, and it’s only 11 P.M. Are they expected to rise again before the morning “mix” comes in?
Yes, temps will have a slight spike as the moisture arrives.
Hey CB, where’s the winter u said was coming, You said Dec and Jan was going be bad???? So why bother with a slushy map, so sad. And before, you people give me grief, stop being junkies .
Sometimes meteorologist get it wrong, get over it.
As we all know, the future of anything is uncertain and we can only deal in speculation. Based on the data Chris, along with other meteologist, had available, the signs indeed pointed to 2011-2012 as being a bad winter…..but just because trends and analogous past winter patterns suggest something doesn’t guarantee it will happen….nature unfolds as it chooses. As to being junkies…well to each his/her own….no one is forced to read anyone else’s posts, so let the junkies have their say!
