Good Friday everyone. You may have noticed that your friendly weather-dude hasn’t been posting as much this week. I have had a serious bug that just will not go away. My Doc has me on everything from antibiotics to steroids. That means I fully expect to lead my softball league in home runs this spring and summer. #juiced
I won’t leave you guys hanging, so here’s as much of an update as I can muster, right now.
– Colder air filters in from northwest to southeast today. Temps will fall into the upper 30s by early evening. Winds will be very gusty and may approach 35mph at times. A few showers will be possible.
– Snow showers and flurries will be around later tonight into Saturday… especially north and east. Temps will struggle to get out of the 30s on Saturday for everyone except the west.
– Sunday looks good with temps soaring into the upper 40s and low 50s under mostly sunny skies.
– Temps will spike up for the first half of next week with Monday and Tuesday looking like nice weather days.
– Another potent storm will develop across the plains and roll into the Great Lakes by Wednesday and Thursday. This has the potential to be another severe weather maker with a shot of cold to follow. Sound familiar? Here’s the look of the European Model…
That’s the kind of pattern I alluded to several days ago. One that can really crank up some powerhouse storms across the country. Are we destined to see these as only severe weather makers or can we get one to put us on the snow side? I guess March will have all the answers for us.
Have a great Friday and take care.
Hope you get to feeling better soon. We all need you to keep us on top of this wacky weather we are having! 🙂
Get well soon Chris. I’ve had a virus or something for four weeks now. It just won’t go away! I’ve coughed and coughed and still have the runny nose.
I was just awakened to hail pounding on my windows and lightening.
This weather changes fast! If anymore snow comes, could you please try to keep it away from S.E. Kentucky? I’d hate to be in the dark again. I think some people are still waiting to get their power turned back on from this last snow storm.
Best wishes for a quicker recovery, Chris. Bad time of the year for these nasty viruses.
Welcome to The I can’t get over it club. Don’t worry about post ,we will survive
Lets stay on the severe weather side. I’m so sick of getting excited for snow and it not happening.
Amen to you as well Mr Larkin.
Did that not just happen for the severe weather lol or would that be not happen 😉
Frankly, only the delusional that have concussions from trying to kick the Lucy’s NAM football all winter will side with snow. 🙂
Amen.
Don’t have to see what march says, bengalfan stated what it would do like 4weeks ago,,just like the oh lets see, 4months—–1shot of cold moves in for I day after rain hits, this will continue, don’t need to say march will have all the answers,,,only. Answer march will have is how strong our thunder storms will be,,,count it
I have stated the same all season long. Warm w/rain – Cold – Warm w/rain – Cold – Warm w/rain – Cold and so on, and so on. Can’t say it has been a terrible winter season as the temps have been nice enough to get out a do some work. Spring cleanups in Jan/Feb are nice. Although I would rather be shoveling snow. At least it isn’t 20 and sunny…..
This is some info for all of you fellow weather geeks. The best radar site I have found is the Southern Illinois Weather Observatory. The man responsible for it is Beau Dodson. He just added a “The Rest of Kentucky” interactive radar. It is down for temporary maintenance. You can follow the weather from Illinois through Kentucky. Not only are there local interactive radars but there are Regionals as well. The storm warnings pop up as they occur. Check it out. http://www.weatherobservatory.com
Chris get well rest lots of liquids and some chicken soup.We were awaken in the middle of the night with heavy heavy rain like a cloud burst it was so bad my cat jumped under the covers and stayed there lol.It is now raining again heavy at times.
Take Care Chris!
Rest up, Chris.
“… can we get one to put us on the snow side?”
I hope not.
This is the windiest sustained wind I’ve seen in a while in Versailles. Don’t think I’d want to be driving a truck or landing in this mess. The warmth yesterday officially has me in the summer mode. Forget spring, we’ve already had it. Before next winter I will be going for counseling and/or therapy for my football kicking delusional syndrome. My therapist will probably recommend I avoid the blog but that won’t happen. Maybe avoid all my enablers in the comment section, seems that’s what gets my eyes crossed.;)
😉
I noticed yesterday at Shillito Park in Lexington while walking that the bushes next to the train tracks are starting to leaf out along with some tree saplings underneathe larger trees. There were also some dandelions that are blooming and doign well.
Here at my house some weeds are greening up and the neighbours Weeping Willow has leaves on it already. Also seeing Daffodils blooming all over. This is crazy.
anyone seen the DIS LIKE button…lol..windy,raw,sprinkles,40’s…YUCK ! ! I say rewind to yesterdays sunshine and 75*!!
Any of you guys have ideas about the upcoming week’s weather??
Seen more snow today in Frankfort than the busted forecast of last weekend? Ice pellets covered the deck for a while, temp 39.
Decent snowshowers developing in Leslie County.
We had heavy sleet then light snow here in E-Town this afternoon, Crazy weather, lol. I love the cold though…wish we could keep it for a few more months.
Light snow in London, KY. So strange after 70 degrees 24 hours ago.
