Good afternoon everyone. A TORNADO WATCH is now out for much of Kentucky until 9pm this evening. This is a PDS Watch and that means it’s a Particularly Dangerous Situation.
Here’s a look at the watch and the latest warnings.
Strong tornadoes are likely across the state this afternoon and evening.
Current Risk
I will have more updates as needed and will continue to send out rapid updates via twitter. Stay safe and take care.
Why is eastern Ky not in the watch area?? are we gonna dodge the bullet??
The cold front won’t get to eastern ky until later today. Expect some kind of watch later on.
See NWS Jackson KY website, it will give you more info for eastern KY, they have even put up a video briefing regarding the severe weather:

I thought it was interesting that we weren’t included in the watch, yet we were under a Tornado Warning for about half an hour.
Think that was the warm front going through, which was bad enough. Much of Tennessee was under a watch at the time.
But the real deal is not until later when the cold front rampages through.
Thanks Chris for all your hard work
TorCon 7 Louisville
TorCon 9 London KY
Cantore Alert – Jeffersonville IN, just across from Louisville KY
What is “TorCon7 ad 9”
TorCon- (Tornado Condition/Conditional Probability?) a statistical formula Dr. Greg Forbes of The Weather Channel developed to predict the probability of tornadoes within a given area. The scale runs from 1 to 10 with 1 being the least risk and 10 being the highest.

Where did you see the specific city listings? All I see is:
KY central, east – 9
KY west – 4
Anyone want to give some input on timing? I’m in Bowling Green and wondering when to expect these to arrive.
i saw where it will be in Lexington area around 4 – 7 pm! stay safe!
Perhaps a few more hours, or less, before Bwg gets the worst.
Check out NWS Louisville, they have video briefing. NWS Nashville (I’m in Nashville, also a WKU graduate) could also help.

Thanks so much for all you do Chris!! I really hate this weather and it is SO HELPFUL to be able to come here and get current information on these storms!!

Posey county west of E’ville hit hard by apparent tornado. It’s on live stream TV out of Evansville
Figures!
If ice or bad non snow storms, we are the center, but if a big snow- Nope.
I’ll bet that our storms won’t steal the moisture from the snow like the storms in the south steal our snow making moisture.
Par for the course 😉 …. 🙁
Ok Weather Gods, what gives on the storms and how will it play out in Lexington?
Following the chasers in the chat room. Storms are getting bad west of Ky and following them as they head into Ky. Come and join us in the chat

The first tornadic supercells are about to cross the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers into Kentucky, from Mayfield to Paducah to Owensboro.
Other storms could blow up ahead of this line as well.
Central Indiana Storm Spotters are active right now

Lots of blow off clouds from storms in southern Indiana might keep cKY from getting the extreme of this outbreak?
Todd –
I hope so. I’m so nervous & this day just keeps crawling by. I just want it to be over. I really do want to the them weaken as they get closer to us

That radar looks filthy nasty!
That cell moving into Trimble and Henry was reported to be a multiple vortex monster.
I’m in London I guess you would say southeastern. I was wondering if our really bad weather is coming from the west or up from Tennessee or both? I need to know what set of storms I need to be keeping a eye on. Appreciate any help at all.
I live in London too and am curious about that as well.
Did they say what peak time it’ll hit Lexington?
One Hour from now.
If I were you Kyle, I’d be ready NOW. The next couple hours we’re fair game till probably 7-8.
Chris, we are so excited that you are coming back to Lexington! We have missed you since you left, faithfully read the KWC blog but very happy with this good news. Thank you for all you do for all of us!
Came to Louisville from Lexington for the Beef Expo. It’s scary here!
Chattanooga TN hit hard, homes leveled. Trimble County KY fire station took a direct hit, is gone. Information overload.
New storms firing up in western KY and western TN. Nashville, Hopkinsville, Bowling Green could be in the crosshairs before long.
