Good Friday to one and all and thanks for dropping by the blog. Thursday provided the bluegrass state with a soaking rain with some areas picking up more than 3″ of rain. This rain is now long gone as cooler and drier air has taken over and dry air hangs around through the weekend. Our temps are going to warm up and that’s a sign of things to come.
Our short-term weather features mostly sunny skies out there today with temps not too far from 50 degrees. Tonight’s a cold one as temps hit the 20s.
Saturday and Sunday will see afternoon readings begin to climb the temperature ladder. Highs Saturday hit the low and mid 50s with 60s on the menu for Sunday.
Clouds and showers and thunderstorms will increase by Monday and Tuesday and a couple of the storms may be on the strong side and produce locally heavy rains. Temps will continue to warm and will reach the 70s by the middle of the week…
Once those 70s get into town… they may be in no big hurry to leave us. It looks to be full steam ahead into a much warmer period for the middle and end of March.
I have been showing you the warm signal coming from the GFS Ensembles of late. Now check out the European Ensembles that have that same warm look for the 6-10 day period…
That is a heck of a warm look for most of the country and you won’t hear me complaining about it. Let’s get to spring and get those temps cranking!
Have a great Friday and take care.
Come on spring! But stay away storms!
Thank you Chris! It’s a treat getting to watch you on WKYT again.
I am always in the kitchen feeding four poodles and thinking about what to cook for my husband at 5 p.m. and as of this past week, I’ve had a smile on my face because Chris is on WKYT doing the weather!!!
(well, yesterday it ran late due to basketball, but it was 5:30’ish) I am delighted to have him back!!!
We lost power again last night right after the wind changed direction. My phone lit up with text messages from neighbors so it was another big outage. It lasted less than three hours, though. No complaints.
tx LEGEND!!! well my CLAY COUNTY girlsd CHOKED once again in state tourney.
that said would be hard facing MAGGOFIN CO and rooting gainst them, now I CAN ROOT FOR those girls who are playing great. play tonite at 9!!!
for the weekend i can say, WE ARE MAGGFIN!!!
Go Magoffin!!!! Hope they can win it all as they deserve it after the week they have endured!!! Good Luck!
Have to say that Manual is the team to beat. My daughter plays for AHS here in Louisville and lost in the the Regional Final to Manual. They have four division one signee’s and will be hard to beat.
CB…Thanks for the update. Loving the warm temps.
Thanks Rolo…we here in Magoffin County appreciate your support!
Anyone have the link for the UK game today. Or, will it be broadcast on the web?
GO BIG BLUE! And COME ON, SPRING! I am ready to plant some flowers.
Full steam ahead for spring weather for me as well !!..
I’m like the rest of the gang, its really good to see Chris back at WKYT. It just seems natural for him to say: I’m Chief Meteorologist Chris Bailey!!!…. LOL… now lets hope for a mild not blistering hot,dry summer…and a winter of 12/13 that has our new CHIEF showing snowfall maps with lots of DARK BLUES AND PINKS!!!…lol (knee deep snow!!)…lol..lol…
now if it would only dry up I could get the garden rolling…perfect weather for lettuce,cabbage,onions,broccolli…..
How can I watch your weather on the web?
We can’t get you on TV anymore and have tried a link posted by someone on the Blog but it didn’t work. Thanks for the Blog.
Wkyt.com streams all newscast online in real time. Not sure of the link but your best bet is to just look around on the site for it. In the past I’ve gone to their site at 11 pm and sometimes it’ll say watch live stream. Not sure if thats all the time though.
It’s on the main http://www.WKYT.com page, between the Break News at the top and the Top Stories sections…it on the left side of the page, and it’s in red and says “Watch Live”.
Just go to http://www.wkyt.com and there’s usually a link right there on the page about mid-way down for the live feed.
Interesting how Chris would post map after map of the Ensembles showing a very cold stretch ahead, but it would never quite pan out.
But now the Ensembles show a very warm pattern is ahead of us, and it seems that will happen.
VERY interesting!!
props to Kentucky for recognizing fishing as a high school sport!
The weather is bringing the urge to start fishing and golfing.
WELCOME SPRING!
I’m looking forward to a little front-porch sittin’ with a good cigar!
