Good Thursday to one and all. Showers and thunderstorms will be on the increase today and this trend will carry us through Friday and into the upcoming weekend. This storm threat fits the May pattern we are seeing taking shape across much of the region.

Let’s break it down with the headlines…

– Scattered storms out there today will have the potential to be on the strong side. Large hail would be the main threat with some gusty winds also possible. These storms will also contain locally heavy rains.

– This isn’t an all day rain by any means and we will have some dry hours. Track the storms on regional radar…

– High temps will likely be in the 70-75 degree range.

– More scattered storms will be possible later tonight into Friday with temps running about the same as today.

– Warm and more humid air will be with us into Saturday and Sunday and that may fuel a couple more scattered storms. Readings should head back toward the mid and upper 70s.

– Record highs were set in several Kentucky cities Wednesday and we may do that all over again into early next week. 80 or a little better is possible during this time.

– Next week is a warm one as a whole with an increase in thunderstorms by the middle and end of the week. Some of those could be strong or severe. The models are hinting at a big closed low just to our west during this time…
