Previous Update

Good Monday everyone and welcome to a VERY active weather week across Kentucky and much of the country. Sunday kicked off another mega severe weather outbreak with the devastating tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the folks there and anywhere else dealing with the aftermath of severe storms and flooding.

Each day through Thursday is likely to feature severe weather across our part of the world as numerous rounds storms roll across the state over the next several days. This may end with a significant outbreak Wednesday into Thursday. Damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes will be possible.

Torrential rains will also be common with these storms and this can lead to flash flooding . More on the rainfall in a bit.

Let’s get to the severe weather tracking tools…

I don’t have to tell you how wet this spring has been and it’s rather obvious it won’t take a lot of rain to cause , at least, local flash flooding concerns. The rounds of storms this week can each cause flash flooding and the overall amount of rain through Thursday may also cause more significant rises on rivers.

Take a look at the possible rainfall this week…

Let’s hope we can come in on the low side of the numbers and get it evenly spread out over the next 4 days. If not… more high water will be possible.

I will have updates as needed and will send out quick thoughts and warnings via twitter. Follow me here: Kentuckyweather or follow along in the twitter feed on the right side of the blog.

Take care.
