Good Sunday to one and all. The big upper level low that has spawned scattered showers and thunderstorms over the past couple of days is finally beginning to pull away. This will leave us with some improving conditions over the next couple of days. The week ahead looks much cooler than the past week and that may be a sign of things to come.
Our short-term weather will feature a mix of sun and clouds today with some scattered showers and storms popping up. That will especially be the case across the east and southeast. Breezy conditions will be noted with temps back into the 60s for highs.
Clearing skies settle in overnight and this should set us up for a nice start to the new week. Monday and Tuesday will feature sunshine and a decent temperature spread. The west will warm well into the 70s while the east stays several degrees cooler. Still… above normal afternoon highs will be likely.
A cold front then moves our way on Wednesday and this will bring our next threat for showers and storms. This front may also have a nice little shot of cool air for the end of the week. The European Model shows this well…
That isn’t a cold shot… but a seasonal shot of some cool air moving in here. It looks like temps would warm up rather quickly by the end of next weekend, but nowhere near the extent of the past week. Let’s face it… we have been spoiled by all this warm air.
The pattern is showing more and more signs of blocking setting up and this may result in a more normal or below normal temp pattern taking shape as we head into the first part of April. The GFS Ensembles certainly show the cooler look down the road…
Have a great Sunday and take care.
snow bunnies for Easter???…lol..wouldnt that be something after temps. flirting with 90 over the past week or so…
So……….no snow………..but no tank tops and shorts? It felt so “fall” like to me yesterday. I guess fall like because we have already been so warm and was so much cooler, like fall would be!!
Go figure! Spring Break is the first week of April. I told everybody it would be cool during that week.
Well, even though KY weather is so changable, you can almost always count on one thing….whenever Easter is, it will usually be cool, or cold. I have been expecting the cool down, as redbuds and dogwoods are in bloom. We have to get through those ‘winters’ before we gat a true spring. My Mother always told me that, and she was right. She also said that if it thunders in February, it will frost in May. And that holds true, as well.
Redbud winter is usually for a couple of days, while I have seen dogwood winter last for a week or more. Then, thereis blackberry winter, which usually falls near the middle or end of May. Although I have seen them bloom early.
Even with all the technology, and having the BEST weatherman in the land, sometimes, the signs that our grandparents, great grandparents, and parents used for telling the seasons is more true to form.
Have a great Sunday, everyone. Thank you Chris, for all you do, and
GO BIG BLUE!!!!!

I’m dreaming of a white DERBY. Sleet fell on Derby day in 1989. That was a very cold and muddy infield. The normal temps will be nice as the heat this earl just wasn’t cutting it. Thanks for the update CB.
Go Cards! Final Four Bound. Come on Cats do your thing today so we can have two teams from the same state dancing the last weekend.

So…does that last map (GFS Ensembles 11-15 days out) indicate normal temperatures around here in the April 5-10 timeframe? If so, wouldn’t that mean highs in the low 60’s? I’d take that.
