Good Friday everyone and welcome to the MUCH anticipated warm up! This has been one of the coolest periods we have seen this late in May in a long, long time. The warmer air can’t come soon enough… but all good things come with a price. Can you guess what that might be?

I know you are probably sick and tired of me using the ‘when it warms it storms’ line… but that has been very appropriate this spring and looks to be the case with the warm up ahead of us. That isn’t what any of us want to hear as we have had one of the wettest springs on record for many areas. Our pattern is likely to grow stormy once again and really kick into high gear toward the middle and end of next week. More on that in a bit.

Today will see partly sunny skies with only the smallest chance for a shower or thunderstorm. The temps will be the BIG story as readings soar into the mid 70s in the east and low 80s west.

Warm and humid air will move in for the weekend as temps surge into the 80s for highs. We will have to watch for some scattered thunderstorms going up… especially across the west.

Temps into next week will continue to run on the warm side of things with readings into the 80s. I am expecting things to turn stormy in time. Exactly when that happens is yet to be determined… but the middle and end of the week pattern looks a severe weather maker…

European Model

A few other models are trying to hit the storm and heavy rain threat a little harder for the first half of next week. Take a look at a couple rainfall forecasts through next Wednesday…

As a matter of fact… the next few weeks look to see the storm and heavy rain threat trying to hone in on the Ohio Valley once again. Look at the widespread heavy rain totals coming from the GFS…

That has trouble written all over it and here is hoping that is nothing close to being accurate. But with the trend of this spring… it is likely onto something.

I will have updates as needed so check back. Have a great Friday and take care.
