A TORNADO WATCH IS OUT FOR MUCH OF KENTUCKY UNTIL 6AM. Here is a look at the watch outline and the latest warnings…
I think the NWS in Jackson should have added some of their counties into the watch.
I will have updates as needed so check back. Take care.
Good Saturday everyone. This is shaping up to be a nasty Easter weekend as significant flooding and rounds of severe storms pound parts of this region.
A front will stall out from southwest to northeast along the Ohio River. This will be the focal point for rounds of heavy rain and severe thunderstorms. This will lead to a potentially DANGEROUS situation for some areas in western and northern Kentucky as significant flooding will be possible. Check out the rain forecast for the next 5 days…
That is nothing short of scary as that would create a serious situation with flash flooding and possible significant river flooding. Areas along the Ohio River from Cincy to Paducah are most at risk.
In addition to the flood risk… some of the storms over the next few days are likely to be severe with damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes possible.
Here are your tracking tools…
Rainfall Since Midnight
Today’s Severe Storms Outlook
Current Watches
Possible Watch Areas
Radars…
I will have updates as needed through the day and will send out quickies through twitter. Follow me at Kentuckyweather or follow along in the twitter feed on the right side of the blog.
Take care.

Great job Chris!
Thanks Chris!
Here is some video (not mine) I found on Youtube of lightning in downtown Lexingon.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbasjeH-XOk
And another cool vid I found. Too bad it’s not HD. This is apparently in Wichester looking back toward Lexington during the storm

I think you, I, and Chris are the only ones up. TG even seems asleep on tv
TORNADO SIRENS INS JESSMAINE COUNTY/NICHOLASVILLE GOING OFF!
Boyle County tornado warning until 0315
Very heavy rain in nicholasville right now sirens going off. Not a lot if lightening or thunder at this point.
Very strong storm just went through SE Fayette, near Hamburg. Very heavy rain, strong wind, lot of thunder and lightning.
I am in Nicholasville too but I am seeing quite a bit of lightning and thunder. The wind and rain are pretty hard at times as well. I’m in the newer houses close to City-County Park.
Acording to radar, looks like another round to come through around daybreak.
Wow this last round that just went overhead packed more of a punch with the Heavy rain and strong winds than the one earlier tonight when the Cloud wall went right over the house . On US 60 Clark Fayette CO line.
Hey everyone. Since weather and SKYWARN is a big interest to the community… I would like for folks to LIKE WeatherNation | Facebook as
they’re going to be a new weather channel and need our total support. I have seen these mets. in action and trust me their pros and know what their doing.
Thanks.

It is absolute CONSTANT lightning to the west of Lex
This is one in freaking tense line of storms
Looks like there is another line forming behind this one…the atmosphere is just supercharged.
Frankfort’s alarm clock this morning was wind, rain, MAJOR thunder/lightning and lots of hail. Not sure anybody slept through that.
I think WKYT got zapped! TG was in mid sentence and then nothing.
Getting hail in SE Fayette. I can’t ever recall this many storms in a 12 hour period.
Yeah really!
I’m exhausted!
Yuck.
This line of storms has been like a bad stomach bug. Just when you think it’s over, another wave hits you. Blah.
Chris, you are truly amazing, and much appreciated. We have been lucky so far here in that the storms have all stayed just north of us. I am sure that will likely change before all is said and done. Everyone please be careful and keep and eye and ear on the weather.
Chris, thanks again for your dedication. You and the team at KYT as well are appreciated more than one can ever say.
yes, coffeelady they are appreciated more than they will ever know. i would say by their dedication, they probably have saved a lot of lifes.
Something I found very interesting…as the tornadic storm approached Lawrenceburg yesterday, my Vantage Pro2 station graphed a VERY sharp drop in barometric pressure…like, a 1.2 in. drop. That’s awesome.
Special thanks to the one and only CB for keeping us posted throughout the night and morning. You’re the Best!!
Chris and the weather, UNBELIEVABLE! Chris for staying up all night to keep people safe and the weather here in Nicholasville keeping me up all night. Never remember a night like last night, storm after storm. Chris your dedication to this web site and the people who follow it is unmatched. I know I speak for all that visit, so THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO, Kentucky is safer because of you. Thanks again.
Finally! Sun has shown itself in Lexington. Nice to see, but I wonder if it will cause daytime heating for more storms to fire up this afternoon? May help those storms around L’vill and Owensboro heading this way to intensify.
Thank you Chris! Excellent coverage ALL night for us of very serious weather. Happy Easter All!
That is very, very intersting…….
It isn’t storming in Shelbyville but the skies are VERY dark off to the north.
Chris I have one question.Do you ever sleep????? Great Job.
Storming AGAIN in Sadieville!
It was horrible last night in Burgin. Up most of the night. Are we going to have to worry about tornado’s all weekend?
Wow… sounds like the meso low went right over top of you.
