Good Sunday to one and all and welcome to a summer day in early April. Record setting high temps are likely across much of the region today as readings hit the mid and upper 80s. There is also the threat for a VERY early season 90 degree temp for some.
Today’s heat comes a day after some big time thunderstorms made their way across the state. The hail was about as big as it gets around here. We numerous reports of tennis ball and grapefruit sized hail to go along with wind damage. I imagine the NWS offices will be doing some site surveys over the next few days to see if any tornadoes touched down across our region.
Today is all about the heat and you can track the summer like readings here…
Current Temps
Today’s Highs
Looking ahead…
– A strong cold front will move through the area Monday. This front will likely bring showers and thunderstorms back into the picture and some of these may be strong or severe.
– These storms should also bring another round of locally heavy rains.
– Tuesday will see lingering showers moving away with cooler temps returning. Highs should struggle to get out of the 50s for some.
– We will warm things back up toward 70 for the middle of the week under partly sunny skies.
– The end of the week into next weekend will see another storm rolling our way from the west. This low will work into the Ohio Valley and put the brakes on. This setup could bring some strong storms at the start with a period of soggy weather to follow. This may also be able to tap another big chilly shot of air to top off an ugly period.
Stay cool on this Sunday and I will have updates as needed. Have a great day and take care.

Would you please consider posting the pollen levels with the forecast. So many of us have allergies can’t go outside when the pollen is high. I always get the weather here and thank you for that. I have to try and find the pollen levels for the day other places.
thank you
Sherry
Not a big fan of the temperatures forecast for today…nice that it cools off again. I’d like a little more Spring before Summer officially arrives.
Thats a GREAT idea!!!!!
On my blog, I was able to post video footage of Saturday’s storm at my storm spotting location. I’ve only uploaded part 1 which basically shows the clouds and lightning streaking closer.
Part 2 will be due out shortly which shows the intense lightning, torrential rain, and some marble size hail.
Check it out…it was quite a storm, though I didn’t have to call in to the NWS office and report severe weather at my location in Valley Station.
Yep…as called for on WHAS on Friday, Louisville has hit 90 degrees. The ASOS site at the airport continues to not disappoint when it comes to high temps.
What a spring it has been so far! SPC severe weather reports for 2011.

Yeah maybe Chris could just link to Pollen.com from here and that would be easier.
