Good Sunday to one and all. Our weekend will end on a much milder note across the region as southwesterly winds take control into Monday. These winds will eventually usher in some big storms to kick off the new work week.
Let’s break it all down…
– Highs today will really surge with temps well into the 60s with 70s across the west.
– Winds are going to be a big player today into Monday as gusts top 40mph at times.
– A strong cold front swings in here Monday evening. Showers and thunderstorms will fire up along and ahead of this boundary. There is a good chance we see a line of strong and severe storms and the Storm Prediction Center has the entire region in a slight risk…
– Much cooler temps will surge in behind the front with highs for Tuesday only hitting the low 50s.
– This chilly down won’t have the staying power of the one we are just coming out of as temps by the end of the week should be back on the warmer side.

very well could be. the shear is sufficent out ahead of this. Instabilty was also favorable a few days ago but not now thus the potential for a major outbreak is not there now. CAPE one of the measures of this has gone from 2000 to almost 0 on the models. This is going to have to be a shear driven event similar to last fall. MS will get really hammered again where both of the parameters are strong.
that being said a squall line with reports of wind damage and isolated tornadoes will more than still likely occur.
So pretty much a replica of October 26 without the high risk?
I am NOT complaining, but where is the wind? Yesterday was much worse than what we’ve had here so far today. I’m on a hill in Bourbon County and I hate the wind worse than anything, but it is barely breezy at the moment. The wind advisory says to expect gusts over 40 mph. Again, NOT complaining…just curious.
April 3-4 1974 I remember well nice warm day and then it begin a friend was in Lexington when he saw what he thought was a tornado he decided to head to Paintsville on the way a barn flew across the Mtn. Parkway. The wind hit Paintsville shook the doors on the fire dept. so hard I thought they were going to blow in. It was a long night no major damage in Johnson county its was a storm to remember. Could tomorrow be as bad?

Wind has kicked up significantly in the last hour.
Dont’t know if it’s wind-related but a massive power outage in eastern Jefferson county. At one point, some 4,200 customers in the region had lost power

Made it to 78 today in Frankfort! So much for those over done cold weather forecast of a few days ago! Go SPRING
there is a massive forest fire on the industrial parkway that is burning right now earlier that were saying it was 200 + acres and the wind has started to pick up here so I am sure it has spread more. That is not good! It is amazing to see but very scary as well.
