Good Saturday and welcome to the weekend. Things got off to a rocky start last night with some hail producing showers and thunderstorms rolling across the region. Now we get set for some milder air moving in and the potential for some big storms early next week.

Let’s break it all down and we will start with today.

Skies will become partly sunny for many areas today as some drier air works in. There is a little disturbance embedded in our northwesterly wind flow and this may touch off a few showers across parts of northern and eastern sections this afternoon into early this evening. Follow along here…

The clouds and the threat for some showers will act to keep temps in check across the north and east as highs should range from 50-55. Farther west.. much milder air will be moving in with readings in central Ky heading toward 60 as the west warms toward 70.

Current Temps

There is a heck of surge of warm air moving into our region for late Sunday into Monday. Highs Sunday will surge toward the 60s in the east and near 80 in the far west. As the warmer air moves in… there is the threat for a scattered shower or thunderstorm.

Winds for Sunday and Monday are really going to crank up as a strong storm develops across the plains and heads into the northern Ohio Valley. This system is likely to spawn a lot of severe weather from the plains into our region and the southern states from Sunday through Tuesday. Our best chance at seeing some big time storms will be late Monday. Here is the setup…

This should also put down some very heavy rain amounts giving us one more thing to watch out for. The front should slam through here early Tuesday with a surge of chilly air moving in for the middle of the week. This won’t have the staying power of the last round of chill as temps should rebound nicely by the end of the week.

We have been talking about how active this spring will be in terms of severe weather and the early week system looks to officially kick things off.

I will have updates through the weekend so check back. Have a great Saturday and take care.
