Good Saturday everyone. We have a shot of snow coming our way later this evening into the overnight and this is likely to put down accumulations for many. Oh well… I guess spring is overrated anyway. ![]()
I am going to keep this post rather short as I have had a busy day of traveling and watching hoops with my boys and simply have not had the time to pour over the data as I usually do. I will get you an update with a snow map out later today. My first blush is for a 1″-3″ (local 4″) sloppy snowfall for the northern half of the state tonight.
The forecast models are diverging a bit in terms of where to place the snow…

The NAM seems to have made quite the push to the south with the placement of the accumulating snows. I am not ready to bite on that yet… but I will check the latest data today and get back to you. ![]()
A full update will come your way later today so be sure to check back. Have a great Saturday and take care.
I hope they’re both wrong!
How ’bout those cats!!!!
wow i am NOT liking the NAM’s version. it can go right back north from wence it came.
GO CATS!
I cant believe there is only 2 comments and there is a forcast for SNOW! Where is everyone at? LOL
Woohoo!
Hope we get SLAMMED. Come on South baby!
LOL. (I’m really gettin’ under the skin of the snow-haters,huh?) 😉
😀
..ACCUMULATING SNOWS EXPECTED OVERNIGHT…
A SURFACE LOW WILL TRACK FROM THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI RIVER VALLEY
TO NORTHERN GEORGIA OVERNIGHT…WITH PRECIPITATION OVERSPREADING
CENTRAL KENTUCKY AND SOUTHERN INDIANA BY MID TO LATE AFTERNOON.
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO BRIEFLY BEGIN AS ALL RAIN THROUGH THE
AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING HOURS…BEFORE A RAIN AND SNOW MIX
CHANGES OVER TO MOSTLY SNOW BETWEEN 8 PM AND 11 PM EDT ACROSS
SOUTHERN INDIANA AND EXTREME NORTHERN KENTUCKY. THE RAIN AND SNOW
LINE WILL GRADUALLY SLIDE SOUTH THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT…MAKING IT
AS FAR SOUTH AS THE CUMBERLAND PARKWAY BY SUNRISE. PRECIPITATION
IS EXPECTED TO END FROM WEST TO EAST FROM SUNRISE TO LATE
MORNING…WITH A BRIEF CHANCE AT SOME FREEZING DRIZZLE AROUND
DAWN. A VERY THIN GLAZE OF ICE WILL ONLY BE POSSIBLE ON ELEVATED
SURFACES.
OVERALL…1 TO 2 INCHES OF SNOW COULD FALL ON GRASSY AND ELEVATED
SURFACES ACROSS SOUTHERN INDIANA AND NORTH CENTRAL KENTUCKY
THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT. ROADWAYS ARE NOT EXPECTED TO ACCUMULATE
SNOWS VERY WELL DUE TO THEIR TEMPERATURES BEING WELL ABOVE
FREEZING. HOWEVER…THE POTENTIAL FOR HEAVIER BANDS OF SNOW DOES
EXIST AND HEAVIER SNOWFALL RATES ARE A POSSIBILITY. SHOULD AREAS
OF MORE INTENSE SNOWFALL SET UP OVERNIGHT…IMPACTS TO ROADWAYS
WILL LIKELY OCCUR. AT THIS TIME…THE BEST POTENTIAL FOR THE
HEAVIEST SNOW LOOKS TO BE JUST SOUTH OF THE OHIO RIVER INTO THE
BLUEGRASS. STAY TUNED TO THE LATEST FORECAST UPDATES AS UPGRADES
OR CHANGES TO THE WINTER WEATHER THREAT ARE POSSIBLE IF THE TRACK
OF THE STORM CHANGES
😀
CATS + BEER + A WIN = HANGOVER
Very dynamic system coming our way.
T’storms reported in Springfield and West Plains Missouri during the last hour with some temps in the mid 30’s. Snow is falling in other areas with some of those temps around 36 degrees.
Accuweather forecast for April 1: Sunny, high of 57. Somebody’s wrong 😉
Why is everybody freaking out I do not care if it snows a foot. It is only going to be a slushy wet snow that will only stick to grassy areas.
Look for the Louisville area to receives its usual inch while other areas of the state pick up a more substantial accumulation.
Go Wildcats and whip the Tar Heels
I guess so. I was all excited abt reading all of the comments abt the weather and there was none there. Maybe aft Chris puts out his update then maybe everyone will be on here cheering or complaining. LOL
sounds like I may get in on this one. I am not even 5 mins from the Ohio River, just outside of the city limits of Flatwoods KY.
I’m shocked at how quiet it is in here! And no updates, lol…I will give you guys some. 1st off, the gfs seems the model of choice, when you look at radar trends to the west. Just south of St. Louis they already have over 2″ on the ground and roads are snow covered! Keep in mind, its daytime out there. We will see our snowfall when the sun is down. So, we may very well need to be concerned about the roads, as they haven’t been treated. Also, THUNDERSNOW is being reported in MO!! You just never know about March storms. But, I have a feeling many of you will wake up in the morning and go WOW, are you kidding me?!? Lol…looking forward to CB’s update. As for the Louisville area, it very well could see a portion of the area getting 4+” of heavy wet snow. (Those poor trees and gardens)
It has trended SOUTH again!!
E-Town & Bardstown in the 6-8 in range on the NAM snow map???!!
WINNING!!!!
LOL.
wow, where are the updates? Either Chris must be completely exhausted, doesn’t have the heart to deal with talking about snow or he’s not worried about it amounting to much..there’s a huge difference between the two models..if I go with the Nam…puts u in the 2-4 right now (Morhead/Rowan Co. area)..I don’t see the NAM where E-town is getting much of anything?? Is there a new one I can look at??
NWS out of Jackson is reporting UP to one inch possible for the entire area…huge discrepancies again in all the forecasts..fun times haha
4″ with hvy snow being reported in parts of Missouri.

Does anyone have any updates on the latest models?? Please tell me us here in SE KY are gonna get in on the action!!! Thanx
Sleeting in Louisville now
Sleet and rain here on Bullitt County/ Jeff County line. 20 miles south of Louisville
It is sleeting in Shelbyville
Sleet/snow/rain mix in Shelbyville. Radar is looking heavy to west. Once that hits, dynamic cooling should really set in and change everything over to a heavy wet snow! Still think 3″ in Louisville, isolated areas where banding sets up 4 or 5″.
My thermometer reads 42 degrees and falling.
I hope that all of those softball tournaments finish before it gets bad out!
Wondering if we’ll see accumulation in Johnson County. Anyone know if the models have trended more in our favor or not?
New HPC seems to agree, as they now have areas along and north of I-64 having a risk of 4″+!!! I say, bring it on and then some…
No changes in my thoughts from Friday morning. Along I 64 wakes up to a Wintry mess in the morning.
We’ve got a good amount of sleet falling in Anderson Co. now. You can hear it against the windows.
Yep!

Heavy sleet is falling on the Woodford/Franklin Co. line. It sounds like ice pellets hitting the metal roof…
What about dry slotting? Please tell me that won’t happen…
Sleeting in Lex.
Fat flakes mixing in with sleet here in Valley Station (Louisville). Temp has dropped nearly 6 degrees in a litte over an hour. Talk about dynamic cooling…
Large wet snow flakes in southern jeff county/ bullitt county line. It is mixing with rain but over last 15 minutes has is changing to more snow. Probably as large flakes as I have seen all winter. I am concerned about dry slotting as well for Louisville area.
Make that half-dollar size flakes…Wow!
Anyone just anyone plz tell me we have hope for snow in SE KY!!!!
Snowball size flakes (?) mixed with a bit of rain in Louisville. Temp has dropped to 39. Dry slot in Illinois is starting to fill in a bit it looks like…BOTS!!!
Sleeting in SE Lexington. Bring back spring!!
Large snowflakes have been falling in Shelbyville for about 20 minutes now. The temperature has fallen to 37 degrees. No accumulation so far.
A mix of snow and sleet has been falling sporadically for the last hour in Frankfort.
