Good Saturday to one and all and welcome to the weekend. Our cold front crossed through the region overnight with a round of showers and thunderstorms for many. This front will clear the skies out for Today as some cooler air moves into town for a great start to the weekend. While we have warmer days ahead into early next week. The signal is clear on spring not being ready to lock in yet.

In the short term… morning clouds will settle southward as the front sags into Tennessee. Skies will become partly to mostly sunny across the area as temps hang out around 60 for afternoon highs. This front will then start to work back to the north tonight as warmer air surges back our way. Scattered showers and thunderstorms should crank up on the nose of this mild air into late tonight and Sunday. Some of these will get started later today to our south and southwest today and you can track those here…

Follow the temps…

Current Temps

Monday into Tuesday should be very warm days as temps head back into the 70s with breezy conditions and the threat for an isolated shower or thunderstorm.

A bigger storm system will begin to develop across the plains states by Tuesday and will roll eastward into the Ohio Valley by Wednesday. This will increase the chances for rain and thunderstorms and we will have to watch for a strong storm or two.

The big news is what comes in behind this storm as a chilly pattern is going to take hold for the end of next week. As a matter of fact… this is one that can produce some snowflakes next Thursday or Friday. Check out the amount of cold showing up on the European Model…

Remember a few weeks ago when I talked about the blocking showing up for the end of the month with a negative NAO? Well… this is the end result and the GFS Ensembles suggest the chill tries to hang tight for a while in the eastern part of the country…

That is just ugly and here is hoping for it to bust badly over the next few weeks. That said… I have to agree that we have not seen our last big blast of chill.

Have a great Saturday and take care.
