Good Wednesday to one and all. The nasty weather of the past few days is about to take a turn toward the awesome side as temps get set to soar and spring takes control of the pattern for the next week or so. I don’t think too many people will be complaining.

The weather today will start out chilly for all areas and may hang in the chilly department for much of the day for the eastern part of the state. That’s because clouds and a leftover early day shower will be possible. Areas in the west will see sunshine breaking through early today and that clearing line will work eastward through the day.

Temps may have a tough time cracking 50 in the east as the west spikes well into the 50s. Your temp tracker will show it all today…

Current Temps

St. Patrick’s Day will see spring begin to do its thing with temps warming into the 60s for the entire region. A 70 will be possible in the west and south under mainly sunny skies and breezy weather.

Did someone say 70s? Friday’s highs will likely be well into the 70s with sunny conditions and gusty winds ahead of a front that moves in for the start of the weekend. This front will knock our temps down closer to normal for Saturday and will likely have a shower or two.  That same front will then return to the north later Sunday into early next week as a big plains storm cranks up. What does that mean for us? The likely return of the 70s early next week.

You can see this well on the GFS Ensembles…

We will likely go back toward a wet pattern for the last of the month and one that should feature another shot of chill or two.

In the meantime… it’s looking good for fans of spring. Have a great Wednesday and take care.
