Good evening, everyone. Before we get to tracking, let me say one more thanks to all our Veterans!! Arctic cold and light accumulating snows are taking control of the weather this evening and I have you all set to do some winter weather tracking.
The Winter Weather Advisory now includes the entire state and much of the surrounding states…
This won’t be a lot of snow, but a general coating up to 2″ across the entire region. Much of that will be on grassy and elevated surfaces. With the arctic air moving in, all that water will turn to ice pretty quickly and that will lead to some slick travel developing. Lows by morning range from the mid teens to low 20s. Wind chills will be in the single digits.
Highs Tuesday stay in the 20s with a wind chill in the teens. That northwest flow from Lake Michigan should keep snow showers and flurries going across areas of central and eastern Kentucky. Wednesday morning lows may reach record levels in the low teens with some valleys trying to sneak into the high single digits.
Here are all your tracking toys for the evening…
Lexington
Georgetown
Frankfort
Florence
Covington area
Louisville
E-town
Bowling Green
Paducah
Fort Campbell
Mountain Parkway near Slade
Pine Mountain
Morehead
Winchester
Maysville
London
Mt. Vernon
Make it a good one and take care.
What is causing the doughnut hole around Lexington on the radar above? Curious if it will close or travel to WV. We are used to those in the Charleston area…SMH
Big old dry hole over Lexington. Probably won’t see any snow.
Morehead looks nice and sunny at 8:00 PM at night 🙂
I’m on my way to Morehead. Snowing LouMetro. Slush on the deck.
Rodger has an overachiever in western Kentucky. Hoping this is the first of several snows this winter. Rodger in Dodger
Just got to Carrollton from Louisville. Snow was coming down at a nice pace!
I think the “dry hole” around Lexington, KY has filled in by now…not sure what causes it to happen there, but honestly, the reason I think it happens here in Charleston, WV is due to all of the chemicals floating around in the air of “chemical valley” 🙁
So my prediction about folks saying they won’t get “any snow” were a bitt off. I didn’t predict it would be Lexington. (Something about a dry hole.) My quiet money was on “Knox county”.
Nothing but rain in my part of Richmond. But – I’m not expecting anything anyway. Keeping my hopes very low.
Closing in on you Jimbo! I hope you overachieve up in the tristate area:).
Doesn’t look like a warm nose type of setup.
Every time the snow starts to fall, the naysayers get on here and whine like there’s no tomorrow.
There is snow in Lexington, contrary to the rest of what the blog is saying…or smoking.
Still around 60 degrees with steady rain in NE Pike County
North Richmond has 1.5” and still decent steady light snow.
Looks like that enhanced band of snow moving out of TN will impact southeast KY within the next few hours.
