Good Monday everyone. We are rolling into this new week on a rather damp and chilly note as a slow moving upper low moves overhead. Luckily for us we will have much better weather moving in later this week… just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.

Showers will increase from west to east early today as our upper low pushes in from the west. This bad boy will be a very slow mover and will keep the rains around through Tuesday into early Wednesday. This is likely to put down some locally heavy amounts… especially across the south and west. Here is a look at the latest rain forecast from the NAM…

Track the rains here…

The rain today will be a chilly one with a lot of areas struggling to get out of the upper 30s and low 40s for much of the afternoon.

Current Temps

Temps will begin to inch up later tonight into Tuesday when much of the region sees readings into the 50s. This is when some thunder may be noted just ahead of the upper low that will be passing through. As the low begins to move away into Wednesday… our weather will begin to improve. Highs will be back into the 50s with dry air taking control.

This should set us up for a VERY mild St. Patty’s day on Thursday with temps that can soar to 70 or a little better with mainly sunny skies.

A weak front will try to drop southward toward the region by later Friday into Saturday and this may bring a few showers to foil our taste of real spring. That front should move back to the north as more mild air moves back in from the southwest.

The GFS Ensembles at 850mb have a very mild look for the period of this Friday through next Tuesday (22nd)

That looks awfully nice to this spring weather fan.

If you are planning to follow our in state NCAA Tourney Teams… I will have a weather forecast for Tampa and Denver coming later today so check back.

Have a great Monday and take care.
