Good Sunday everyone. Here is hoping each of you are about to wrap up a great weekend. Our Saturday weather was fantastic and we are going to keep some of that around today before some ugly stuff rolls in for the next few days.

Today will see clouds beginning to thicken up as some cooler air moves in. Highs will range from 50 in the far north to the upper 50s to around 60 in our southern counties. From here… we turn our attention to a slow moving upper level low that will spin across the region for the next several days.

Rain will increase from southwest to northeast later tonight into Monday then continue into Tuesday and early Wednesday. Tuesday may even feature a rumble of thunder to go along with heavy downpours. The models are slowly showing more and more rainfall with this system with several of them now showing more than one inch for many. The NAM is showing the most widespread heavy rains as of now…

Given the way the past few weeks have played out… is there any reason to doubt several areas getting another 1″-2″ of rain? Odds right now favor our southern counties having the best chance at that.

The temps the next few days will be all over the place. The rains on Monday will be VERY chilly with some areas struggling to get out of the upper 30s and low 40s for much of Monday afternoon. Here is what the NAM shows…

Temps Monday night should be on the rise as the upper low moves in from the west. Readings will generally warm well into the 50s for Tuesday and that is the day some thunder will be possible.

The low will finally begin to move away early Wednesday as a surge of mild air moves in for the end of the week. Irish eyes should be smiling for our St. Patrick’s Day Thursday with temps in the 60s and making a run at 70.

The mild air will continue into Friday and next weekend as we stay just ahead of a weak front dipping in from the north by Saturday. This is likely to touch off scattered showers and thunderstorms as it should hang just to our north.

Beyond that… the pattern may try to revert back to a stormy one with potentially more rounds of heavy rain. This is especially the case with the long range models trying to bring colder air into the eastern half of the country for the last 10 days or so of March.

Look at the big temp swing on the GFS Temp Anomaly Forecast…

When you see a temp “fight” showing up like that… chances are a big storm or two shows up in between and that is something we will watch for.

For those folks living along the Ohio River… it is in flood and will continue to run there for many more days. All interests along the river should continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

Speaking of the Ohio River… the famous Jeff Ruby’s Waterfront floating restaurant near Covington somehow broke away from it’s moorings late Friday evening and took a little trip downstream…

That couldn’t have been very fun!

I will have updates as needed so check back. Have a great Sunday and take care.
