Good Wednesday evening to one and all. Heavy rains made their way across the state last night and early today with some areas picking up 2″ of rain. This caused some local high water issues and is putting more water into our already swollen rivers.

The Ohio River will exceed flood stage in many areas over the next several days and you can check the prior blog for the latest crest forecasts for a few points.

Another round of heavy rain will move into eastern and southeastern Kentucky later tonight into Thursday and this can cause more local high water issues. Not a fan of dropping the flood watch for far southeastern Kentucky as this area can get in on an addition one inch of rain into Thursday.

This happens as a wave of low pressure develops along the front and lifts northward into West Virginia late Thursday into Thursday night. This is something the blog has been forecasting for several days now as others downplayed this because the american computer models were slow to show it. Well.. they have it now and I suspect others are talking about it now.  As this low goes by… colder air will sweep in with a mix of rain and snow Thursday evening and a change to snow Thursday night into Friday morning. This can put down a slushy accumulation again across the eastern part of the state.

This will remain a VERY active weather pattern through next week. We get a system to dive in here this weekend with the threat for a shower or even low topped thunderstorm that can put down some soft hail.

Another system is looking interesting early next week as the track of this bad boy can bring rain and or some snow to our part of the world.

Back to the short term… track the rains here…

Have a great evening and take care.
