Good Sunday evening gang. I promised an update today and I am a man of my word… well… mostly.
Heavy rains turned to snow early this morning with a slushy accumulation for many. Some spots in southeastern Ky picked up a couple inches of the white stuff.
Looking ahead… we find another big storm that will impact our weather as we roll into the middle and end of the week. This should be another big rain maker and may have some wintry weather before all is said and done.
Here is how the European Model sees it…
That would be a lot of rain… again… and would be followed by much colder air with a switch to snow for some areas from west to east.
I will have more on that and an update on the river flooding later tonight. Have a great evening and take care.

Thanks Chris!!! I’ll enjoy those few days before the sky opens up in buckets again!
patty, thanks for your input on the last post about too much rain. just go to show that people can have different view points and not get mad and argue. thank you so much. i did comment on what you said if you do not care to go back and read.
I read it Toney and I replied! Thanks!
So, did we get any of that widespread flooding that the Weather Bureau was just “so crazy” not to issue way ahead of time? Or were they perhaps okay by not going ape over it?
How does the long-range look for March? SNOWY?!?!?!…hopefully
Widespread flooding? Who said anything about that? The issue was all the other NWS offices did the right thing by putting a WATCH out well in advance of the weekend. A WATCH simply means for people to be alert to the POSSIBILITY of flooding in a particular region. The NWS in Jackson was the last to issue a watch and their forecast area received the most rainfall across the entire state with several spots topping 2″. Does a tornado touchdown in every place under a Tornado Watch? No… but it is to alert you to the POSSIBILITY of a tornado. Any other questions? Thanks.
