Good Sunday everyone. Another big rain maker worked across the region Saturday into the overnight with many areas picking up 1″-2″ of water. Heavy rains will continue to be with far eastern parts of the state very early this morning before switching over to wet snow.
We will continue to watch for high water problems in the east this morning before we get a change to snow. This wet snow can put down a slushy accumulation in the far eastern counties as the cold air crashes into the backside of the departing rain shield.
The rest of the state will see a mix of sun and clouds with windy and colder weather. Afternoon temps will range from the mid 30s east to mid 40s west.
Here are your tracking tools for the day…

– Monday will see dry weather returning with highs warming back around 50 degrees for many.
– Tuesday looks like another good day with highs well into the 50s with an increase in late day clouds.
– Another potent storm will develop and roll our way Wednesday into Thursday. This may be another heavy rain producer and have a better threat for thunderstorms.
– There is an increasing chance this system cuts off from the main flow by Thursday and Friday. This would allow for more of a wintry aspect to the storm wherever it does stall out. We will keep an eye on that as it will have some decent cold air coming on behind it.
I will have more updates as needed today so check back. Have a great Sunday and take care.
How much longer do we have to put up with all these rain events!! Every few days rain, rain, rain!! UGH!!!
By the way, sleet mixed in with rain here in Versailles
Same here in Nicholasville Patty, got rain and sleet mixed! Pretty heavy too. 🙂
Same in Lexington — sleeting pretty heavily here at the moment.
Snowing in morehead

Heavy wet snow falling here in barbourville this morning!! With a dusting on the ground!!!!! INSANE

Wet snow falling at Dorton in Pike County, just started to slowly cover everything. Tops of the hills look to have about an inch.

I can’t believe it! Snow in Clay Co. and there’s a nice dusting on the ground!!! I really didn’t think it would switch over that early or that the ground would be cool enough to support any sticking. Wow!
Ground is covered here in Northern Floyd Co. Its nice to see the flakes again! Go away rain! Come on snow!
Snow! About 1 1/2 inches of snow in Leslie County, sticking to everything, and still falling…temp at 30 degrees!
Thanks Chris,
NO more cold please. I’m through with snow and wintry weather. My utility bills were high last month. We need a mild pattern to help my budget.
this is my 2nd try first went to moderation. just outside flatwoods, ky we had heavy rain at 3am when i looked out at 4:30am it was pouring the snow. we have just a dusting on grassy areas and rooftops and such. we had 1.2 inches of rain.
I was very surprised to awaken to a couple of inches of the white stuff this morning. I live on the western edge of Letcher County at an elevation of nearly 1800 feet. I love your website and snow predictions.
i do not intend to be rude but i hear every one complining about the rain but as i can recall just a little over 3 months ago we were all begging for rain and could not but a drop and then along came ole man winter that made us forget that, by bringing us bouts of snow, only thing was is that all the snows were dry in nature and no water content. this went on all winter long with very few rainy epidodes to go with it. so as much as we claim to hate the rain, we do need every drop of it as long as property does not get destroyed but some times that happens. if you do not want the gardens and the lawns burning up before summer even gets here, take all the rain you can get because while it is wet in the short term, in the long term we are running about average in the rain bucket. thanks for your time and may god bless you.
How ’bout them EAGLES!!!
I understand we need rain, but I’m commenting on the events that bring us flooding conditions. We also need a little sunshine in the mix too!

Woke up to snow in Perry too.
Having too much rain at once doesn’t help. The ground can only soak up so much at one time. Most of it just ends up in the Gulf of Mexico. So no, wanting it to keep pouring won’t do a thing for your garden in July.
How about them BUCKEYES?????!!!!!!!
CATS were fun to watch too though!
the only reason that every thing is exasberated now is because every thing is dormant, if these rainy episodes were occurring in the midle of spring or summer the forest beds would be soaking them up but right now every thing is dormanyt so nothing gets absorbed. so far the only tragedies that have taken place that i know of is that of the amish family, and yes i know, 1 death is 1 death too many, but no real serious flooding is going on right now because all the storms have been about 3 days apart from each other. i guess what i am trying to say is, if it were to quit raining right now, by the time april got here it would be pretty dry around here. remember drought breeds drought and rain breeds floods and floods breeds rain. just a pattern that sometimes we get stuck in. i agree with both of you, though, we do not need the floods or even worse, deaths. thank you for your input on this matter.
congrats to the wild cats but thay will win 1 in the sec tourney and if they make it to the ncaa, they will hopefully play wva and this time the result will definitely be different. wva 80 ky 65 sorry folks!! lol!!! just having fun!!
I completely agree with this blog. It’s a most important medium of growing the skills and knowledge so that ideas are spreading so quickly.
