Good evening everyone. A FLOOD and FLASH FLOOD WATCH is now out for the entire state as everyone is finally on board the heavy rain train.
Here is a look…
Since the the local NWS offices came around… what is Morristown TN NWS doing? No watch for east Tennessee this weekend? Wow is all I can say to that. Yes I am reaching beyond the state lines to critique. ![]()
Widespread 1″-3″ of rain will occur through Sunday across the state. The heaviest totals will be across central and eastern Kentucky and this is the region that has the highest risk for flooding.
More updates as needed… take care.

First, you betcha!
Appreciate your vigilance CB. Way to stay on top of things.
I thought your insight into the Jackson and Charleston NWS ‘balking’ at issuing flood watches for their respective CWA’s was well-founded.
Therefore, just for fun, I’m conducting a poll on how much rain will fall this weekend at their respective NWS offices. Voting ends tomorrow by noon.
i am from wayne, wva and mt data comes from the tri-state airport out of kenova, wva just west of huntington, wva but i have a rain gauge on my back deck at my house so i would prefer to use that over the nws if you do not mind. my prediction for my house is 3.5inches by sunday evening and a grassy accumalation of snow also.

Just click on the MS initials above. Thanks.
please let others know this because a relative new comer like me that is kind of new to this blog does not know to do this. i thought it was for fun on chris blog only. sorry for the misunderstanding.
Was a bit surprised to not see a flood watch posted for my area from Morristown…usually they do a good job though, can’t say much often, haha. Rivers over here in far southwest Virginia are still running high and still some water logged areas, another 1-2 would cause more problems I’m sure. Their afternoon AFD covers why they’re holding off on watches though…
