Good afternoon everyone. A significant severe weather outbreak is looking more and more likely later today into Monday across the entire state. This threat includes tornadoes… damaging winds and hail.
Scattered thunderstorms are developing across the region this afternoon and will continue into the evening. Some of these could become severe. The main action will move in from the west late this evening into the overnight. These storms would then continue to roll eastward across the state into Monday.
This may turn into a widespread damaging wind event across the state and much of the Ohio and Tennessee River Valleys. Here is the latest from the Storm Prediction Center for today…
The SPC has really ramped up the severe chance late tonight into Monday with much of the area under a MODERATE RISK…

Again… widespread damaging winds and isolated tornadoes will be possible.
The heavy rain and flooding threat will also be with us and a FLOOD WATCH and FLASH FLOOD WATCH is now out for the entire state…
Follow the storms development here…
I will have more updates later today and may have a live chat coming later this evening. Follow my twitter feed for some rapid fire updates.
Take care.

Hang on everyone – and stay safe!!
Not the kind of trend we like to see, which means we probably will get it.
I can’t believe the temperature difference between this morning to now.. WOW! Chris, you are the MAN!
Thank you Chris! I’ll be here for the live updates this evening. My son will be traveling from Western Ky so I’ll especially want to hear what’s happening in other parts of the state!
Locked, loaded, and ready to go over here. Though, I do need to get the HAM radio on the charger…
Hey does anyone know if there are any Lexington stations, or somewhere, that I can get severe weather alerts sent to my phone? Weather channel used to have one, but you had to pay for it, I didn’t want to use it since it’s not local and didn’t know how dependable it was, please let me know, thanks !:)
WLEX 18 does
Phase II of this storm is the one to watch. Planning on staying up all night to monitor this move throughout the state. I’m amazed that snow produces 300 post a day and tornado weather is less than a dozen post.
The Weather Channel does have a text alert service that doesn’t charge (like Notify does).

One thing I don’t like about those services is just a text with what the warning/watch is but no time or details. Probably would be too much for much in the way of details but the time and such would be nice. Anyone know of one that would fit that description.
Thanks for updating, Chris. I take it from the way you are writing that this is going to be an overnight event for parts of the state? I am a little concerned, as the other night, my radio went off for one of the counties west of me (where my daughter lives) but I found out the next morning that we had a warning, and it did NOT go off for that one…I would appreciate any insight from anyone on this. Thanks in advance.
Thanks a bunch, I really dont care if it gives a lot of info at the time of the alert just something to tell me to LOOK! will be fine lol. I just like to have something in case i’m not home when something comes up! Thanks again 🙂 Looks like we are fixing to start the ride! 🙂
No problem.
Yeah, I’m mostly fine too, when I get it if I need more I’ll just go online and find out more. It would be nice to have a little more every once in a while at times though when I’m at work or something and can’t take the time to look anything more up haha.
Whoops. Sorry, meant to hit reply for this comment, lol.
Looks like another sleepless night— I wish you would do an ‘all night’ chat, LOL! I won’t be sleeping at ALL.
EVeryone– stay safe and I am praying no one gets hurt tonight.
