Good early Friday folks. I wanted to start a new blog about the ongoing severe weather and flash flooding across much of the state. A line of severe storms is working eastward into eastern Kentucky with damaging winds being the main threat.
This line is also producing torrential rains with widespread flash flooding taking place in many counties. There is a report out of Graves County of 4 children missing after being swept away in floodwaters. Please take the flood threat seriously tonight and early Friday.
A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is out for much of southeastern Ky until 4am. Here is a look at the counties included and the current warnings…
Track the storms here…
Keep posting the weather conditions from where you live and I will have updates as needed and will have rapid fire updates via twitter. Take care.

I just took a swim, its getting nasty out there. Roads are flooded in some areas..
Reporting from Gallipolis Ohio. As the common theme it’s been raining all day here. Currently most creeks and streams are out of their banks and flooding onto road ways.
🙁 praying for those children and their families! Also praying for my friend in Alabama where tornado sirens are currently sounding. I’m getting ready to head to bed here myself, and am going to have to trust in the Lord for the incoming weather tonight.

Everyone stay safe tonight! I think I’ll stay up till this storm passes. It looks bad for sure.

The Howling winds and Rain have just arrived in Pikeville, hopefully it is a very fast mover. The winds are really howling.
I feel the same way Crystal.
Storm just blew thru Breathitt co very impressive winds had strongest wind gust measure 58mph according to my insturments..rain was intense and driven by wind. Zero thundering and lightning Electric blinked a couple times but is still on..Thank God
That rain is heavy too! My satellite went out.
Oh my God we are getting hit hard right now.I hope we dont lose power the wind is unreal and the sheets of rain.
line just passed through harlan. nothing impressive. pretty gusty winds and torrential rain, but nothing worth headlines. ah well, looks like we got a big storm season ahead of us.
2:45am….Last hour drive home observed some flooding areas around Danville. Some limbs in roadways since storm passage.
My rain guage reads 2.48″ for the past 24 hours….One disturbing thing I noticed tonight it seemed most people were pretty much disregarding watches and warnings in the areas I was in of Mercer/Boyle counties.
Storm passed a bit ago here in Floyd Co. (Harold) and it was pretty insane. I have no clue how strong the winds were, but by the streetlight, I could see the wind was pushing waves of rain up our paved hill. The power lines were also swinging back and forth pretty bad, but electricity stayed on. For a while you could see nothing but sheets of rain.
However short this storm was, it was still rather powerful. What I don’t understand is the only thing I saw was a “special weather statement” issued about 10 minutes after the storm passed. Maybe it’s just me but the timing on that is a little disappointing.
2.88″ in Valley Station (SW Jeff county) near Louisville.
Had to work outside in this at the Louisville Int’l Airport. Pretty tough going.
