Good Friday, folks. We have another day of showers and storms pushing across the region and that means another day of tropical downpours. Just like each of the past few days, we will have to be on guard for additional issues in the form of local flash flooding. Once this system finally clears the region, a September cold front drops in and brings refreshing temps our way. Can we keep the cooler pattern dry? That may be a bit of a stretch.
Let’s start with today and hit the fast-forward button. It’s supper muggy once again as low pressure works into the region from the southwest. That will bring an increase in showers and storms to the entire state. With the tropical moisture in play, more flash flooding is possible for areas getting in on the most storms. Please keep a close eye on this setup.
If you haven’t tried the interactive radar, give it a whirl. The toolbar has literally everything you guys need to track storms all the way down to the street you live in. The best part is it’s totally free to you guys. I pay a hefty price for this service so you don’t have to! š Here ya go…
This is a trend that will take us into Saturday with the greatest threat for showers and storms across the eastern half of the state. Once again, some heavy rainers will be a good bet.
Folks, these aren’t all day rains today or Saturday. Not everyone will see a ton of rain from this setup and some in the north, especially, may not see very much at all. We are talking about thunderstorms that put down torrential rains where they occur. It’s not like this is a solid shield of wall to wall rainfall.
For our friends over in West Virginia and Virginia, you guys should also be watching for some flash flooding.
As we roll into Sunday, we find a cold front dropping in here from the northwest. This September cold front will have a broken line of showers and storms with it as it sweeps through here…
Temps behind this for next week will feel awesome and well below normal. Watch how these deep troughs dig into the eastern half of the country and hang tough through the following weekend…
This pattern may become rather unsettled, giving us the threat for some rain. This is something we have been talking about for a while now, but the models weren’t really offering any backup to my thoughts. That has now changed…
I will have another update later today. Y’all have a good one and take care.
Massive amount of rain coming down here in Louisville at this moment. It looks like next week will be tremendous.
Thanks Chris, It’s a foggy morning here with a temperature of 71 degrees. In the last 48 hours we received 0.65 inches of rain showers.
Almost every morning we have had fog. Everyone I’m sure knows the old saying ” count the number of days of foggy mornings in the month of August and that will tell you the number of days with snowstorms the following Winter. If this pans out, my house which is two stories would be buried in snow this coming Winter. LOL
That GFS ensemble with the monster trough reminds me of January 1977. I just wish that the dew point temperatures would drop into the low 50’s next week with Sunshine.
Chris, I still don’t know how to connect to the interactive radar. I need an outline to follow. Have a great day.
Chris, I figured out how to connect to the interactive radar. I’m starting to get this “internet stuff.” Very cool indeed. I would be willing to pay for the service, it could save lives !
Been raining heavy here since 9:00 am. the storm cell is rotating in one place and is slowly moving northeast. Flash flood watch out for my area.
Thank you for all you do, Chris Bailey!
We appreciate it!
The interactive radar is awesome.
Looking forward to lower temps and lower humidity.
I guess Iām an odd duck, I love fall.
Have a wonderful day everybody!

After all the rain this morning I am looking forward to the comfortable temps next week.
Thanks for keeping us back in WV in the loop. You’re still my go-to meteorologist!
