Good Sunday, everyone. We have another rain maker developing and working across the state later today through Monday. This will bring the potential for storms that can put down locally heavy rainfall once again. This continues a very active pattern that has more storms on the way in the coming week as cold fronts get set to blast the bluegrass state. These fronts will bring much cooler than normal temps with them into the first half of September.
Let’s talk about today’s rain action. A few showers and storms will develop across the west and far south into the afternoon. That action slowly lifts to the northeast this evening and continues into Monday. Some pockets of very heavy rains will likely show up and we could be talking about some local high water issues developing. The greatest threat continues to be across the southern two-thirds of the state. Here’s a rough outline of where the best rains are likely to fall…
The EURO and HI RES NAM continue to show much higher totals…

Local high water issues are certainly possible, especially if storms develop and roll over some of the areas that just picked up 2″-3″ from Laura. Here are your tracking radars to start the day…
This system works away late Monday, but storm chances will kick back in later Tuesday into the middle of the week. That’s ahead of a cold front arriving on Thursday. After a spike in temps, that front brings our first shot of pleasant air into Friday and the start of next weekend.
As we’ve been talking about, the setup shortly thereafter is for a much deeper system to dive in across the eastern half of the country…
There has been some indication from the various models of a tropical system approaching the eastern seaboard at the same time. The evolution of the whole setup is yet to be determined, but the chilly temp signal continues to show up strongly…
Those are some well below normal numbers you see there and could put us within a few records for so early in the fall season.
I will have another update or two later today, so check back. Have a great Sunday and take care.
Louisville is on the fence again.
I hope we received a midget amount of rainfall.
I love reading about the upcoming cooler weather forecast to arrive in KY. late week.
Thanks Chris, Oh well more rainy days ahead for my county. I hope sometime in September we will at lease have a couple of weeks of “jacket weather.”
Thanks Chris, I feel I must apologize to the forum for posting so many unnecessary comments.
Whenever one changes over to a new forum design there are going to be problems.
Hopefully, when the snow flies more of the “snow lovers” will be back posting.
Silly ? But I wonder if the leaves will change earlier with the more cooler temps
It would if we could get several light frost through September, but that would be highly unlikely.
It would be nice but I know it’s unlikely Maybe the leaves won’t be so brown and just blah this year.
I thought the same thing…they have turned very late the past few years, and last year they barely turned colors at all, they just mostly went brown and fell away
I know right they weren’t colorful at all maybe it’ll be different this year
Same thing happened here at my place in central Kentucky last year.
Seems like when we have an active tropical Atlantic, our Autumn weather is delayed.
