Good afternoon, folks. Showers and storms are starting to increase and we will see this action become fairly widespread tonight into much of Sunday. These boomers can put down heavy rains for several areas. At the same time, all eyes are on the Gulf of Mexico and Tropical Storm Sally. This should become a hurricane and some of the moisture from that could be drawn northward into Kentucky later next week.

Storms that go up this afternoon and evening could put down enough rain to cause local high water issues. The Weather Prediction Center has much of the area in a low-end risk for flash flooding…

That risk focuses a little farther east for Sunday…

Here are your radars to track the big increase in stormy weather…

Rains taper off from northwest to southeast late Sunday into early Monday as some awesome air works in here. Highs are generally in the 70s Sunday and Monday and lows may dip into the high 40s by Tuesday morning. From there, things depend on our developing system in the Gulf of Mexico. You can see this system coming off the coast of Florida…

The National Hurricane Center now takes Sally to hurricane strength before bringing it onshore near or just east of New Orleans…

I think this has a chancer to become a major hurricane . That angle can cause some pretty big issues, especially along the Mississippi coast and eastern parts of Louisiana.

This system is going to throw some, at least, offshoot tropical moisture our way by Wednesday and Thursday. That would interact with a cold front and I’ve seen those setups put down some overachiever rains.

The EURO shows direct heavy rains from this making into Kentucky and merging with a DEEP fall trough…

That could be a Pot Of Chili Alert if things play out like the Euro thinks.

I’ll get more into that later tonight. Make it a good one and take care.
