Good Wednesday everyone. The blog has been hyping a big time taste of spring for a while now and our spring fling is finally here and will hang around for a few days. If you are breaking out the shorts and t-shirts this week… you may not want to put away the winter weather gear just yet. ![]()
The warmth of the next few days will feel awfully nice for those of us in need of a shot of spring. Temps should head toward the 60s today for the entire state and well into the 60s for Thursday. The NAM is all over this…
For any area getting in on enough sunshine… the first 70 of the year will be possible. That said… we will see a few clouds out there trying to keep that from happening. Follow the temps here…
Current Temps
Winds will continue to pick up over the next few days and gusts may top 30mph again late Thursday into Friday. A cold front will move our way late Friday into Friday night with a gradual increase in clouds and the chance for a few showers. This is a fairly moisture starved system and any rains that can develop will be on the light side.
Cooler air will blow in for the weekend as temps come down into the normal 40s for Saturday. That won’t last long as we bounce back up into the 50s for Sunday as another low fires up across the plains states. This low will then head toward the Ohio Valley by later Monday and should be another decent wind maker.
The European Model shows an interesting scenario with a nice cold shot moving in as the low goes by on Tuesday…
I have been talking a lot about the amount of cold air building up in Canada right now and that will continue to do so over the next week. This cold air has to go somewhere and the upcoming pattern for the final week of February into March will likely feature shots of this cold returning to the eastern half of the country as old man winter fights back. Other than saying I don’t think we have seen the last of winter… I can’t tell you a whole lot more than that.
The GFS is showing the return of winter…
Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves as we have a heck of a nice period of spring temps to enjoy. Go out and do just that and take care.

Hey guys,
I know some of you bash me, but regardless their are a few who view my blog daily. I have not posted in awhile because my family is having some serious problems at the moment. It should be updated again soon.
great 1st week of softball practice weather.
Hope everything works out ok..
…
I for one am ready for spring. Old man winter can go on an anarctic vacation untiL Dec. Would not hurt my feelings at all..
Hang in there bro…or as rolo would say “hung ni dar bor”
Loving it Chris! Can’t wait to see how wild our weather can get towards the end of the month though!
That was me above. The warm air is getting to me 😉
not only am i enjoying all this warmer weather, i am sooooo looking forward to a lower electric bill!
gooooooooo SPRING!
Thank you Chris. I’m loving the warmer temps!
I am looking forward to having the windows open and fresh air infiltrating the house! I am SO ready for SPRING! I just don’t think I can wait another day forthe grass to green up and the leaves to start budding out!! HURRY!!!
aww..MODERATON!! Anyway long story short……I WANT SPRING!!! Windows open, leaves budding out, grass greening up, ground drying out a bit, yes, I want SPRING!
AMEN! on the Lower Electric bill!!! I am SO ready to see it drop! Can’t wait to open the windows and enjoy a nice, warm breeze!! GOOOOOOOOOOO AWAY WINTER!!! lol.
Man I love that feeling of warmer, more humid air with a stiff breeze….it feels like being in the warm sector on a Spring day just waiting for the squall line to strike. Ahhh… soon….
Loving the temps…now, if we could just gat a little more sunshine to cooperate with them, it would be just perfect! Gonna enjoy it while we have it! Thanks, Chris. (By the way, I have not even thought about putting away the winter duds yet….not even the long johns! 😉 )
Isn’t this a bit unusual.. A long, warm, dry spell in the middle of February? Typically we don’t see a stretch of weather like this until March. It’s nice to actually walk across a DRY yard instead of mud. Keep having to remind myself its Feb. 16!
An even better first week of baseball, too bad most of our team plays basketball…
Love the before and after pictures of Chris in today’s kentucky.com story on local weather personalities!
I love the sunshine!!!
March is going to be cold and snowy!!! I do however like the warm up we are having. I am just not going to get used to it…Thanks Chris…
Two days into this warm front and I’m already bored! lol.
Understand spring lovers and those looking for lower electric bills but I’m still yearning for a little more winter white stuff. I realize I’m in the minority but there will be PLENTY OF WARM / HOT / HOTTER / HUMID / MUGGY days in the coming months. I’ll take it cooler and crisp for a little while longer.
Enjoy the day everyone.
Pushing 70 degrees in the Louisville area. Awesome, baby!
It is really nice outside today! 66 and sunny in Shelbyville!
I’m excited about baseball and softball season!
HAPPY TASTE OF SPRING TO ALL!!! It was so nice to get outside today.
Your weird buddy….sorry to be the one that has to break that to you
Ahhh the temps remind me of a great round of golf.
Sorry to hear about your family. Hope all is well very soon, for everyone involved. Hang in there!
Enjoyed the warm weather with my little boy today. 🙂 Only thing I need now is a good song of the day for tomorrow’s warm weather from Rolo! We’re thinking about you buddy and hope you are feeling good today!
I taught class OUTSIDE today! Not a single student paid any attention, but it was great!
I updated, no one hate on this. Im not in the mood.
From one wildcat to another, you just do your thing man. Don’t let people get to you. I hope everything works out ok with your family.
I liked the warm temps today although the wind was a bit much, but that’s March for ya. Oh wait, it isn’t March. 🙂

THIS IS SERIOUS FOLKS TIME TO GET ON CONGRESS IN SUPPORT OF THE NWS!
ice storm threat on the 00z gfs for monday, also if you oppose the drastic budget cuts to the nws please contact your congressman or women.
This monday Mitch????????????
yes. cmc shows some snow/ice as well. I’m extremely skeptical of this.
That was a fun article. I read the bit about Chris first, of course. 🙂
I always thought Brian Hale was very funny on WLEX. He read the copy of the morning sunrise photos and one time he said, “Here’s the dog rolling in from the lake.” It was actually fog, not dog.
